The Edmonton Oilers dropped a lopsided decision in Game 3 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Final by a score of 6-1 to the Florida Panthers on Monday night at Amerant Bank Arena.
With the win, the Panthers took a 2-1 series lead. Brad Marchand opened the scoring 56 seconds into the game, with Carter Verhaeghe (PPG), Sam Reinhart, Sam Bennett, Aaron Ekblad (PPG), and Evan Rodrigues (PPG) adding the other markers for the Panthers.
Meanwhile, Corey Perry replied with a power play goal of his own to get the Edmonton Oilers on the board in the second period.
Here’s a look at the three least impressive Edmonton Oilers players from their Game 3 blowout loss against the Florida Panthers on Monday night.
3 least impressive Edmonton Oilers players from blowout Game 3 loss to Florida Panthers
#3 Evander Kane
Evander Kane registered a total of 16 penalty minutes in Game 3. Kane took back-to-back penalties in the first period, one for cross-checking and another for high-sticking.
But the worst call of all came in the third period when he took a shot at the Panthers’ Carter Verhaeghe as he lay on the ice.
Here’s a look at the play:
Kane got the gate for the slash, and a 10-minute game misconduct for the cheapshot.
All told, Kane played 13:42 across 20 shifts, registering a minus-2 on the night and four shots on goal.
#2 Darnell Nurse
Darnell Nurse led the Edmonton Oilers with 19 penalty minutes on the night. Nurse initially took a cross-checking penalty toward the end of the second period.
But then, Nurse came completely unhinged midway through the third period, taking on the Panthers’ Jonah Gadjovich in a battle royale.
Here’s a look at the explosive action:
The Nurse-Gadjovich bout punctuated just how much the game got out of control in the final frame as the Oilers let their tempers get out of control.
Nurse got a penalty for roughing and one for fighting, while adding a game misconduct for good measure.
He ended the game with 13:30 of ice time across 20 shifts and a minus-1 rating.
#1 Stuart Skinner
Stuart Skinner picked a terrible time to have an off-night. Skinner gave up five goals on 23 shots, eventually getting chased midway through the third period.
Skinner surrendered more than one goal he’d like to get back. Here’s a look at Marchand’s opening goal:
Skinner was caught out of position, making it easy for Marchand to tap the puck home.
Here’s a look at another:
The replay showed how Skinner lost sight of the puck, reacting as he didn’t know where the puck was despite Sam Reinhart already celebrating the goal.
Lastly, Skinner got chased on this marker:
Ekblad’s power play goal added insult to injury, belatedly ending Skinner’s night. It remains to be seen if Kris Knoblauch will come back with Skinner in Game 4 or if Calvin Pickard will get the call as the Oilers look to stop the bleeding.
Game 4 is scheduled for Thursday night at Amerant Bank Arena with the Panthers looking to take a commanding 3-1 series lead.
