3 Reasons why Seth Rollins missed WWE RAW after SummerSlam

Seth Rollins faced Roman Reigns at WWE SummerSlam Night Two with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line. But this was bigger than a traditional title match, as the Stamford-based promotion touted it as The Shield’s final chapter.

The match between The Visionary and the Original Tribal Chief was a five-star classic, with both stars pulling out all the stops. Reigns emerged as the better man on the night as he weathered the storm that was Rollins. He finally overcame his nemesis, beating him clean on a big stage for his third successful World Heavyweight Championship defense.

After the battle, Reigns and the Visionary shared an emotional fist bump reminiscent of their days in The Shield, while a skull mask lay on the mat in front of them. This officially brought an end to the long Shield saga.

Seth Rollins missed the post-SummerSlam edition of Monday Night RAW, while Roman Reigns appeared on the show. He was confronted by LA Knight, who challenged the OTC.

That said, here are three potential reasons why Seth Rollins missed WWE RAW after the SummerSlam 2026 Premium Live Event:

#3. Taking some time off

Seth Rollins is one of the hardest workers in World Wrestling Entertainment. He has worked tirelessly over the years and contributed significantly as one of the main-event guys. However, these past few years have been tough for him as he has gone through a few painful injuries that have affected his push.

His most recent injury came in 2025, when he injured his shoulder at Crown Jewel. This forced the company to completely change plans; he had to vacate his World Heavyweight Championship, was kicked out of his own faction, The Vision, and taken off television.

He eventually returned as a babyface and had a feud against The Vision, which he ended up winning by beating Bron Breakker at the Night of Champions 2026 Premium Live Event. Then he turned his attention towards Roman Reigns.

He has had a busy few months since returning at Elimination Chamber in February. Thus, he may have decided to take some time off and return just before Money in the Bank 2026. If he does, he will likely announce himself for the traditional Money in the Bank match, which would help place him back in world title contention.

#2. Seth Rollins may be headed to WWE SmackDown

Triple H and his creative team have started taking the criticism over Friday Night SmackDown’s bad booking seriously, and over the last few months have worked to improve it. Multiple top stars have jumped the fence from RAW and made the blue brand their new home, including superstars like CM Punk, Rhea Ripley, and Finn Balor.

At SummerSlam, Kevin Owens and Randy Orton of SmackDown also returned from injuries. The Viper hit Cody with an RKO, which means that he will continue his storyline with Cody Rhodes. Meanwhile, KO won the No. 1 Contender’s match and will chase CM Punk’s Undisputed WWE Championship.

To add even more star power to SmackDown, WWE may add Seth Rollins to the roster. The Visionary could pursue a different path and set his sights on the United States Championship. He could elevate it to a whole other level, taking a similar path to the one John Cena took in 2015. Thus, a potential move to the blue brand could be the reason why The Visionary skipped RAW after SummerSlam.

#1. No creative plans

WWE had already laid out its plans post-SummerSlam, and Monday Night RAW already looked packed. Roman Reigns has officially moved on from Rollins, and LA Knight has emerged as his next challenge. Oba Femi, another marquee star on the red brand, has teased a blockbuster rivalry with The Vision’s Bron Breakker.

This leaves The Visionary without many options. Realistically, WWE may not have any creative plans for Rollins for now, and this could be another reason why he missed tonight’s RAW. In a bid to not waste Seth’s main-event momentum, WWE may have pulled him off television for a while to reset his direction.
