Roman Reigns does not need a championship to remain WWE’s biggest attraction. In fact, losing the World Heavyweight Championship could benefit his character by allowing him to focus entirely on The Bloodline‘s increasingly complicated internal dynamics.
The faction has already shown signs of instability. Solo Sikoa attempted to recruit Seth Rollins ahead of SummerSlam. Meanwhile, tensions continue to surround the group’s future, and then there’s the influence of the mysterious Bloodline Elders. Also, there are lingering questions involving Jacob Fatu, The Usos, and the possibility of new members or shocking betrayals changing the family’s direction.
Without the responsibility of carrying the World Heavyweight Championship, Roman Reigns could transition into a special attraction role centred on these deeply personal family issues. WWE has historically produced some of its strongest storytelling when Roman’s family loyalty is tested rather than when the focus remains solely on championship defences.
A Bloodline civil war, a leadership challenge, or even the emergence of another member seeking to replace the Tribal Chief could headline premium live events without requiring the World Heavyweight Championship to be involved.
Meanwhile, Seth Rollins would elevate RAW as the defending champion, while Roman continues to deliver marquee attractions built around WWE’s most compelling faction.
From a creative standpoint, this gives the company the best of both worlds. The red brand receives an active World Champion in Rollins. Meanwhile, Roman remains one of WWE’s biggest box-office attractions through high-profile Bloodline stories that don’t necessarily need to revolve around championship gold.
For these reasons, Seth Rollins defeating Roman Reigns at SummerSlam could be the move that refreshes RAW while simultaneously opening the door to WWE’s next blockbuster Bloodline chapter.
