3 Reasons why the MFTs walked out on Solo Sikoa throughout WWE SmackDown

The June 19 episode of WWE SmackDown saw The MFTs (Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga) compete in a tag team match against Damian Priest and R-Truth with the Tag Team Championship on the line.

The MFTs have already been hanging by a thin thread as Tama Tonga is finding it hard to keep up with their leader, Solo Sikoa. Tonight’s episode of the blue brand showcased the cracks within the stable.

Now, the MFTs are not the only ones Sikoa must be worried about, as Roman Reigns had sent Jacob Fatu to the Friday night show last week to get Solo back to the Bloodline. Tama and Talla confronted the Street Champion for the same.

Tama was seen telling Solo Sikoa that his family issues were getting in the middle of their own family business, and Talla seemed to agree with his tag partner’s claim. They both then left.

Another altercation came during the tag team matchup itself, where, due to a miscommunication with Solo Sikoa, R-Truth pinned Tama Tonga, and the veteran left the ring with his tag team partner, Damian Priest, as the still Tag Team champions.

Tama and Talla Tonga looked frustrated with The Street Champion as they walked away without him, teasing a potential MFT breakup.

In this article, we will take a look at three potential reasons why the MFTs walked out on Solo Sikoa during WWE Friday Night SmackDown:

#3. Out of frustration since Solo Sikoa accidentally cost them the match

These couple of months haven’t been easy for The Street Champion and his heel crew as they haven’t been in any major setting for months.

Additionally, two of their faction mates, JC Mateo and Tanga Loa, were released from the Stamford-based promotion, cutting a major source of power and downsizing their faction to a three-man stable.

Tama and Talla Tonga had a chance to capture the WWE Tag Team Championship and register their crew back in the main event picture and rise again.

However, a miscommunication with the Street Champion ringside led to The MFTs losing to R-Truth and Damian Priest beating them and retaining their titles. Losing their Tag Team Championship opportunity may be a reason why they walked out on Solo Sikoa.

#2. The MFTs are breaking up

Another potential reason why Talla and Tama Tonga left the former United States champion after losing their tag team title match against Truth and Priest is that the MFT faction is finally breaking up.

WWE has been writing the MFTs’ breakup for months, as tensions between Tama Tonga and Solo Sikoa have been building up, and fans saw the betrayal coming in the near future.

The latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown was indeed the moment that strongly hinted at the MFTs splitting up.

From next week onward, the Stamford-based promotion could build a proper breakup storyline.

#1. Solo Sikoa getting back to the Bloodline on WWE RAW

World Wrestling Entertainment has been building on the Bloodline saga tirelessly since Roman Reigns captured the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 42.

This all started with Jacob Fatu emerging as a challenger for Roman Reigns. They had two massive matchups, first at Backlash and second at WWE Clash in Italy 2026 premium live event, in a tribal combat match, with the added stipulation that if The Samoan Werewolf loses, he would have to serve The OTC.

The Tribal Chief showcased Fatu’s levels in this game by defeating him twice cleanly, welcoming him to his Bloodline, and giving him a brown Ula Fala. Now, the OTC wants Solo Sikoa back in Bloodline, and he has give`n the Samoan Werewolf the task of getting his former enforcer back to the family.

On WWE SmackDown, Sikoa asked Fatu to give Reigns a message that if he continues to mess with his family, he will come to his show to mess with his. It clearly hints that WWE has been planning to add The Street Champion to the Bloodline storyline on RAW, and for that, the promotion has to end The MFTs for good.

Hence, on the blue brand, the company marked the end of Sikoa’s faction so he could jump ships on the red brand and kick off a feud with Reigns’ stable.

That said, all the pointers above are speculative, and nothing has been confirmed. It will be interesting to see how this saga unfolds in the coming weeks.
