Charlotte’s elimination is undoubtedly a significant development because she has been one of the most established names in the women’s division for more than a decade. However, missing out on Money in the Bank does not mean she needs to disappear from the title picture. In fact, WWE has several interesting directions available for The Queen.
That said, in this article, we look at three things Charlotte Flair can do after failing to qualify for Money in the Bank on WWE SmackDown.
#3. Go after the Women’s United States Championship
Charlotte Flair could set her sights on the Women’s United States Championship. Jacy Jayne currently holds the title. A gold would give her a fresh singles objective without immediately placing her in the WWE Women’s Championship picture.
It would also let the company tell an interesting story about the Queen trying to add another championship to her already decorated career. Charlotte Flair has won virtually every major prize available to her. However, another run with the Women’s US Title would give her something new to chase.
A feud with Jacy Jayne could also provide a different dynamic. Instead of competing against another established main-event star, Charlotte would face a champion who could use the opportunity to prove she belongs on The Queen’s level.
Flair failing to qualify for Money in the Bank could therefore motivate her to pursue the next available prize.
#2. Refocus her energy on the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships alongside Alexa Bliss
Another option would be for Charlotte Flair to refocus her attention on the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships alongside Alexa Bliss.
Charlotte and Alexa have already established themselves as a formidable pairing. With The Queen now out of the Money in the Bank picture, WWE could have her tell Alexa to focus on becoming champions together.
This direction would also prevent Flair from becoming involved in too many singles storylines at once. Rather than immediately demanding another world title opportunity after losing her qualifier, she could take a different route and attempt to dominate the tag team division.
Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid) could eventually defend their title against Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss in a major championship match. That would give both women a meaningful storyline heading into and beyond Money in the Bank.
#1. Charlotte Flair could challenge Chelsea Green for the WWE Women’s Championship
Charlotte Flair could decide she doesn’t need to win Money in the Bank to earn a WWE Women’s Championship opportunity.
Chelsea Green currently holds the title and was already involved in a tense situation on SmackDown. Nikki Bella confronted Green and made it clear that she intends to pursue the title, meaning Flair entering the picture could create another major challenger for the champion.
A Charlotte-Chelsea feud would also give WWE an interesting contrast in personalities. The Queen could argue that she has earned the right to challenge for the championship because of her legendary career. Meanwhile, the champion could mock her for failing to qualify for Money in the Bank.
That gives the storyline an easy hook. Chelsea Green can portray Charlotte Flair’s loss as proof that The Queen’s best days are behind her. Meanwhile, Charlotte can try to remind the champion why she’s one of WWE’s most decorated stars. That would make a title match between them feel significant.
