39-year-old star is lastly returning to WWE (REPORTS)

A 39-year-old star is finally returning to WWE, according to reports. Fans have witnessed popular names make their return to the promotion recently, and one more name could be heading back to the ring.

Former WWE Tag Team champion Chad Gable has not featured on WWE TV since June 2025. He was written off TV following an arm-breaker spot with Penta. This was done in order to cover up for his real-life rotator cuff injury.

His recovery has been ongoing since a shoulder surgery on July 1. Now, after months in rehab, he is expected to make a return to the Stamford-based promotion soon, according to Self Made Pro.

During the Self Made Sessions, Ibou revealed the promotion has major plans in place for Chad Gable’s return, which will be soon.

“Here’s the deal. At the end of the (AAA) show, Kaiser’s version of El Grande Americano turned babyface. That’s happening because Chad Gable is returning, and he’s gonna return to be the top heel in the promotion… You can expect him back very, very, very soon. both as the heel Grande and as Chad Gable. You can lock that in. There you go,” he said.

During the recent AAA Guerra de Titanes event, Ludwig Kaiser, who plays El Grande Americano, shook the hand of Rey Mysterio, hinting at a possible babyface turn.

Chad Gable was in line for big WWE match before injury

Since donning the El Grande Americano persona, Chad Gable has been trying to get under the skin of the luchadors in WWE. This led him to a feud with Penta on RAW.

According to reports, Gable was in line to face Penta at SummerSlam as El Grande Americano before his injury. The match was planned to be a Mask vs. Mask affair at the Biggest Event of the Summer.

With an in-ring return possibly close for Gable, it remains to be seen whether fans will get to see this match in the coming year.
