4 New roles for John Cena in WWE after he retires from in-ring competitors

John Cena had said that once he retires from in-ring competition, he will never don the wrestling gear again. The Champ had said this because a lot of wrestlers in WWE have come out of retirement for one or two special matches.

However, according to Cena, the match at Saturday Night’s Main Event (SNME) would be his last. However, Cena has never negated the possibility of being involved with WWE in some other capacity.

Moreover, there have been speculations that Cena will most probably be involved in other things related to WWE.

In this listicle, we will discuss four roles John Cena can adopt after retiring from in-ring competition.

#4 John Cena can turn into a Backstage producer

John Cena can turn into a backstage producer after retirement. Although the chances of turning into a producer are low, since he might focus on his Hollywood career, it is still an option with him.

Several WWE stars like Fit Finlay, Jason Jordon, Robert Roode, Jamie Noble, Gregory Helms, and Tyler Breeze have taken backstage roles after their retirements. Since Cena also knows the nuances of wrestling have been around for nearly two decades, the management would be happy to give him this role.

#3 Commentator

The fans would love to see Cena sit in the commentary box. That would be a new high for WWE, having a 17-time Champion sit alongside Michael Cole and Wade Barrett and calling out for matches.

However, once again, the probability of this happening is quite low. Cena can turn into a commentator for special events, but becoming a permanent one and doing shows every week is unlikely.

#2 On-screen figure like Adam Pearce/Nick Aldis

John Cena can also become an on-screen General Manager of either RAW or SmackDown, replacing Adam Pearce or Nick Aldis. Aldis and Pearce are also former wrestlers, and they took on managerial roles after ending their in-ring careers.

Although no other superstar, as popular as John Cena, has taken over the role of a General Manager, the Champ can do it. Even though it might be for a brief period of time, turning into a General Manager is one option with him.

#1 Manager

Turning into a manager and representing a superstar is one option Cena can pursue after retirement. This would be somewhat similar to what Paul Heyman does. Since Cena is equally good with his mic skills, he can also turn around the fortunes of the superstar whom he would manage. He can drive the storylines, and even drop in occasionally as a wrestler, surprising the fans with the Attitude Adjustment.

In essence, we don’t know exactly what role John Cena would adopt after his retirement, but he would certainly be involved with WWE in some capacity. It remains to be seen what role Triple H would offer to the 17-time Champion.
