Gunther and Seth Rollins are set to battle in a singles match at WrestleMania 42. The Ring General surprisingly allied with Paul Heyman by striking a deal with him.
While it initially appeared that Rollins might be facing Brock Lesnar at the Show of Shows, it ended up being the Austrian who helped out Heyman. He is now owed a favor by The Oracle of The Vision, which will likely be part of a future storyline.
Thanks for the submission!
The feud between the two former World Heavyweight Champions has become very intense over a short span of time. They have brawled several times in the ring, and Gunther also cut a strong promo this past week before being forced to retreat.
With nothing but pride on the line for the two superstars, here are five ways Gunther vs. Seth Rollins could end at WrestleMania 42.
#5. Gunther might win clean
Gunther has been on an incredibly strong run over the past year. He won the World Heavyweight Championship for a second time, retired Goldberg, John Cena and AJ Styles and also destroyed Dragon Lee in his most recent feud.
It seems unlikely that WWE will book him to lose so quickly after retiring both Cena and Styles. As a result, the company might decide to give him a win at WrestleMania after coming up short last year, as well as the year before.
Like he has done with several other icons, Gunther could put Seth Rollins to sleep in the middle of the ring and earn a hard-fought win.
#4. Seth Rollins could win clean
The Visionary will compete in his first match since October, when he defeated Cody Rhodes to win the Crown Jewel Championship. However, he injured his shoulder during the bout and had to undergo surgery to correct the issue.
The former Vision member has been on a great run of momentum since making his return at Elimination Chamber 2026. To keep things going for him, the creative team could book him to go over Gunther and defeat him at the Show of Shows.
To keep things conclusive, there might be no outside interference, giving Rollins a clean win over The Ring General. However, it would also mean Gunther losing a third straight WrestleMania singles match in a row, which might be a huge blow to his credibility.
#3. Paul Heyman could interfere and help Gunther win
Gunther is essentially fighting on behalf of Paul Heyman, after he was left without anybody to represent him. It is only logical that Heyman will be in the Austrian’s corner at WrestleMania 42.
Despite not being an in-ring performer, The Oracle has influenced several matches in the past with his presence. He could distract Rollins during the match and give his representative the advantage, allowing him to either use a foreign object, or take our Rollins with a low blow and lock in the sleeper hold to earn the win.
Heyman’s involvement seems like a no-brainer, but whether or not his interference leads to a win for Gunther remains to be seen. After being on the receiving end of so many attacks from Rollins, it only seems plausible that Heyman will have the last laugh after causing some form of nuisance at ringside.
#2. Seth Rollins could be assisted by a new ally to get the win
Rollins will likely move on to battle The Vision once his done with Gunther at WrestleMania 42. However, he is at a big disadvantage since he doesn’t have anyone on his side, after his antics as the leader of the faction.
With The Usos and LA Knight unlikely to help Seth Rollins after all the torment he put them through during his time with The Vision, he could call upon a new ally. The Architect could be assisted by a new star from NXT such as Ricky Saints, making his main roster debut at The Grandest Stage of Them All to help him beat Gunther.
It would help Rollins pick up a much-needed win, while also somewhat protecting the Austrian in the finish.
#1. Bron Breakker could return and cost Seth Rollins the match
Bron Breakker was initially planned to face Seth Rollins, but had to undergo emergency surgery to fix a hernia after the Royal Rumble. He has not been seen on television in months and was omitted for the road to WrestleMania 42 since he was still recovering.
However, reports suggest that the former Intercontinental Champion has been cleared to return to the ring. As a result, he could make his comeback at the biggest premium live event of the year and cost Seth Rollins the match against Gunther.
Paul Heyman could distract the referee while Breakker takes out his former teammate with a spear, leading to Gunther making him pass out with a sleeper hold. This would perfectly set the two up to feud all throughout the summer, while also giving the Austrian the win at WrestleMania.
