At Money in the Bank, LA Knight failed to win the World Heavyweight Championship from Roman Reigns after a valiant effort. The Megastar was quite confident heading into the match and even hinted at possible retirement if he lost to the OTC. Although fans are still rallying behind Knight, it must have been difficult for him to show up again on WWE RAW after making strong claims in the past.
The former United States Champion has been in this exact spot on numerous occasions, entering a World Title match with a lot of momentum but failing to win when it mattered most. Here are the five times LA Knight earned the chance to win the WWE World Championship but failed to do so.
Thanks for the submission!
#5 LA Knight vs. Roman Reigns (Money in the Bank 2026)
The Megastar is now 0-5 in World Title matches, with the latest loss being at the hands of Roman Reigns. As the battle concluded, the OTC highlighted that he was very close to losing and that LA Knight is actually tough. Despite such claims, the fact that Roman defeated him cleanly and without either The Bloodline or 946 disrupting the match means that Knight needs a revamp and a proper plan if WWE wants the fans to remain invested in him as a top title contender.
Such a booking pattern has led a section of the WWE Universe to believe that the promotion would never put the top title on his shoulders, as if someone with decision-making authority thinks he is unworthy of being a World Champion.
#4 LA Knight vs. Jey Uso vs. CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins (Clash in Paris 2025)
Towards the end of August 2025, WWE hosted Clash in Paris, which featured a Fatal Four-Way match where Seth Rollins defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Jey Uso, CM Punk, and LA Knight. The match itself was entertaining to watch, and WWE wanted to tell a bigger story rather than crowning a new champion.
Towards the closing moments, as Punk was closing in on victory, a hooded person ran in and took him down with a low blow. Seth’s real-life wife, Becky Lynch, revealed herself to be the mystery attacker, and her interference paved the way for Rollins to earn the pinfall and successfully defend his title.
This eventually led to Punk’s wife, AJ Lee, making her WWE return while Knight subtly moved away from the World Championship scene.
#3 LA Knight vs. Seth Rollins (RAW 2025)
Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on CM Punk at SummerSlam last year to win the World Heavyweight Championship. On the following RAW on August 4, 2025, he was challenged by The Megastar for the title. The match was entertaining to watch, but again, the randomness of the title match made fans believe that WWE wasn’t seriously considering putting the championship on Knight.
Seth’s rivalry with Punk was far from over after what had transpired, and the Second City Saint interfered during the title match, resulting in Rollins retaining the gold via disqualification. The Vision’s Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed also showed up to even the odds. This led to Roman Reigns making his way out and aligning with Knight and Punk against The Vision.
#2 LA Knight vs. Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles vs. Roman Reigns (Royal Rumble 2024)
The Bloodline has helped the Tribal Chief retain his title on multiple instances but has also worsened the scenario for him on a few occasions. One such case happened in January 2024 when The Bloodline’s involvement ruined a Triple Threat match between LA Knight, Randy Orton, and AJ Styles to determine Roman’s next challenger.
The interference resulted in Reigns defending his title in a Fatal Four-Way at Royal Rumble. Solo Sikoa showed up during the battle and took out The Viper, which paved the way for the OTC to hit the spear on Styles and score the win. Although Knight wasn’t involved in the decision, he would remain out of the World Title picture for more than a year.
#1 LA Knight vs. Roman Reigns (Crown Jewel 2023)
Knight earned his first chance at the top prize when he challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The match was fun to watch, but fans noted that it wasn’t close to any of Reigns’ classic title defenses. He was the underdog in the match because LA hadn’t won any championship in the company at that point, and barely anyone believed that WWE would end Roman’s historic title reign like that.
However, the battle for the title helped Knight showcase his ability to deliver as a main-event player. As the match featured several interferences from The Bloodline, it secured him a spot at the top of the card for the following couple of months.
