Good news for indecisive folk, or those who just have a lot going on at any given time.
Threads has now expanded its drafts element mobile, moving it into line with the desktop app, with users now able to save up to 100 Thread drafts in the app.
As you can see in this example, you can now add many more drafts to your mobile app listing, so that you can hold your various thoughts for posting at a later date.
As explained by Threads:
“To save a post for later, exit the composer, or tap on the icon beside the three-dot menu at top right. Tap on the same icon to see all of your drafts, then select a draft to continue working on it.”
So now, you’ll be able to quickly switch out of Thread mode if you need, with all of your in-progress pontifications to be saved and stored for later clarification.
Threads originally added drafts on mobile back in March, but you could only have one draft saved at any given time in the app. In August, Threads expanded its draft capacity on the web, with desktop users able to save 100 drafts.
And now, mobile users can also save many, many drafts. And really, if you have more than 100 Thread ideas on the go at any given time, you need to let go of your posting anxiety and start freeing some of those ideas.
Threads has gained momentum in recent months, rising from 175 million users in July, to 275 million now, which is more than triple the growth rate that it had been seeing prior to that. Concerns about ongoing changes at X (formerly Twitter), and a rise in popular users posting to the app has seen more people paying attention, and joining in with Threads communities.
It remains to be seen whether Threads will ever be able to unseat X as the real-time social app of choice, especially given Meta’s aversion to “political” content (which many users complained about on Election Day). But it is on the fast track to reaching more users, as X continues to lose audience.
The election result could change that, and definitely, X owner Elon Musk is excited about the prospects of expanding his personal soapbox after seeing the influence that he wields. But that won’t necessarily appeal to users, and Threads may soon be hosting a lot more active communities and activity.
The capacity to save more drafts is another small element within its broader mission, and right now, Threads does seem to be mostly on the right track.
