Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) has accused Biden’s government of playing a covert role in the ongoing upheaval in Syria, asserting that the timing of events leading to the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s regime is no coincidence.
Speaking to former FOX News anchor Clayton Morris on Redacted, Massie implicated the “deep state” in orchestrating a chain of events aimed at fulfilling long-standing geopolitical objectives.
The Gateway Pundit contributor Antonio Graceffo reported on Wednesday that the jihadist terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), led by former Al Qaeda leader Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, supported by Turkish airstrikes, has taken control of the Syrian capital, Damascus, and toppled the regime of Bashar al-Assad.
Meanwhile, “Another coalition of radical Islamists under the Syrian National Army and Free Syrian Army includes multiple factions supported by Turkey that are also aligned with ISIS.
Their goal is not only to get rid of the Assad regime, but also to eliminate the Kurds, Christians, and any other minorities,” reports Free Burma Rangers (FBR), a faith-based aid organization with teams on the ground in Syria, Burma, Ukraine, and other conflict zones.
Iran and Russia have long supported Assad, aiming to maintain their “Axis of Resistance” against U.S. influence. However, with Assad’s exit, Iran will lose much of its leverage in Syria.
Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) has publicly linked the timing of Assad’s downfall to the covert actions of the U.S. deep state.
Thomas Massie:
Let’s talk about the timing of this. Remember, Tulsi Gabbard was in Congress, and she and I collaborated on a lot of these efforts to stop our meddling—the U.S. meddling in Syria. Now she’s been named as the head of DNI.Well, I think that was the signal to the deep state to go in for the kill and get this over with because Trump and some of his nominees, like Tulsi Gabbard, are signaling that we are not going to carry on the policies of Obama and the deep state.
Clayton Morris:
I’ve been thinking that. We’ve been talking about that on our show, that it seemed the timing of all of this just seems incredibly fishy. So, it is your assessment that this was really an effort here before Trump gets into office to go in and basically put in place this deep state CIA plan in Syria. It’s clear as day to you, it seems.Thomas Massie:
It’s clear as day to me. Whether it was led by the United States or whether we just encouraged it, definitely the timing is not a mistake. When you find a turtle on a fence post, it didn’t get there by accident. For instance, some of the stronger powers that be, like Israel, used their military forces to bomb the dozens of jets and helicopters in Syria.
Basically, what these terrorists couldn’t do, other people in the Middle East hurried up and did here in this last week to make sure that Assad didn’t have the typical resources that a government would have to respond to these threats.
