Colorado Rapids Mark thirtieth MLS Season With New Anniversary Logo – Sports activitiesLogos.Net News

Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids are marking their 30th season in the league with a new anniversary logo that blends elements of their identity from the past three decades.

The Rapids unveiled the anniversary logo on their website and social media channels on Tuesday, February 4. It depicts the number 30, with the rushing rapids that were part of their logo from 1996 to 2006 underneath. The 3 in 30 is the same shade of gold found in the club’s earlier logos, while the 0 is burgundy with the grey and sky blue mountain and the soccer ball from the Rapids’ current crest, which they’ve used since 2007. Both digits have a green drop shadow.

“This year marks a historic milestone for our club as we celebrate 30 years in Major League Soccer. Over the past three decades, we’ve built a legacy filled with unforgettable moments, iconic players, and the unwavering support of our incredible fans. This anniversary is an opportunity to honor our history, celebrate our growth, and look ahead to an exciting future for the Rapids and soccer in Colorado. We’re excited to share this celebration with everyone by hosting special commemorative events throughout the season.”

— Pádraig Smith, Colorado Rapids president

This appears to be the first anniversary logo the Rapids have released in their history.

As part of the 30th season celebrations, the Rapids will retire the number 17 worn by club legend and Gallery of Honor inductee Marcelo Balboa on August 16. The American defender made 151 appearances for the Rapids between 1996 and 2001, scoring 24 goals over that time. He was named to the MLS All-Time Best XI in 2005, played for the U.S. national team 127 times — including games in the 1990 and 1994 World Cups — and was elected to the National Soccer Hall of Fame.

Celebrations also include the unveiling of a new “commemorative wallscape highlighting 30 seasons of Colorado Rapids soccer” on the south side of Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. “The installation will serve as a visual tribute to the players, fans, and moments that have defined the club’s three decades in MLS,” according to the club. The Rapids are also partnering with Glory Studio to create a coffee table book with exclusive photos and interviews from the club’s history, which will be available later in 2025, and producing exclusive video, written and social content.

The Rapids play a two-legged tie against fellow MLS side Los Angeles Football Club in the Concacaf Champions Cup on February 18 and 25. In between, they open their 2025 MLS regular season on the road against St. Louis CITY SC. Their home opener takes on Saturday, March 1, versus FC Dallas.
