Memphis Redbirds pay tribute to barbecue nachos with alternate identification – SportsLogos.Net News

The Memphis Redbirds, Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals in the International League, will play two games as the Memphis BBQ Nachos this season, paying tribute to an iconic ballpark concession item that the team is known for.

“The origin of barbecue nachos can be traced to the opening of AutoZone Park in 2000,” the team said in a statement. “In its purest form, with chips, slow-roasted pulled pork, cheese, barbecue sauce, dry rub, and jalapeños, barbecue nachos are now synonymous with Memphis and AutoZone Park.”

The cap logo is a straightforward illustration of barbecue nachos, forgoing any exaggeration or anthropomorphizing that has become typical in minor league baseball alternate brands. A secondary logo evokes the branding one might find on a barbecue restaurant in Memphis.

A wordmark features the legend “Memphis BBQ Nachos,” with a jalapeno pepper dotting the I of Memphis and a cheese- and sauce-laden tortilla chip standing in for the A in Nachos.

The Redbirds will will wear jerseys featuring the colors tan, brown and gold, which, per the team, “epitomize ballpark food culture,” with the “World Famous BBQ Nachos” logo on the front. A tri-tone cap will feature the barbecue nachos illustration.

The BBQ Nachos will take the field May 15 and 16.
