The Lakeshore Chinooks, a baseball team in the collegiate summer-level Northwoods League, will celebrate imperfect physiques when they play two games as the Wisconsin Beer Bellies this season.
“The brand pays tribute to some of Wisconsin’s most beloved pastimes—baseball, beer, and a body physique we are proud to embrace,” the team said in a statement. “A fun and flavorful homage to the state’s rich brewing heritage and good natured fandom.”
The Beer Bellies branding and logos were created by Jack Powers, the designer who developed other alternate Northwoods League identities, including the Up North Cork Dorks brand worn by the Traverse City Pit Spitters. The team released this explanation of some of the brand’s finer points:
