The third singles championship match at the 2025 WWE Money in the Bank, between arch-rivals Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria, has gone down as one of the most unexpected bouts of the night. The Irish women tore the roof off delivering a classic back-and-forth women’s Intercontinental championship contest.
However, the match ended in chaos as Becky Lynch reversed Lyra Valkyria’s maneuver, and she turned it into her roll-up pin. The referee unexpectedly counted three, and she ended up winning.
The man became the second-ever women’s Intercontinental champion. As per the stipulation of the bout, Lynch asked Lyra to lift her hand, though things quickly escalated, and the 28-year-old snapped at the veteran, hit a suplex on Becky, and left the ring.
In this listicle, we look at three reasons why Lyra Valkyria lost her women’s Intercontinental Championship at MITB 2025:
#3. WWE has a grand match for Becky Lynch
WWE confirmed last month that the second edition of the Evolution Premium Live Event is set to take place in July. The all-women’s PLE was first held in 2018, and it was a massive success.
Multiple matches are rumored for the event, one a long-pitched bout for Evolution 2 between Becky Lynch and Bayley. The Man revealed that to get herself a spot at WrestleMania 41, she took the Role Model out a night before her tag team match and stole her hard-earned spot.
Bayley could finally return on RAW and challenge Becky Lynch for a match at Evolution 2; Lyra Valkyria losing her title could serve as the best spot for the Role Model to return and kick off a feud against the Man.
#2. Lyra Valkyria’s character change
The inaugural Women’s Intercontinental Champion, Lyra Valkyria, has been a babyface for the longest time in her career. Though she has been a massive fan-favorite and experts acknowledge her potential to become a top superstar, her WWE gimmick appears repetitive.
The 28-year-old superstar, losing her title, could lay the foundation for Lyra Valkyria’s potential heel turn, shades of which were seen when the Brid Lady snapped at the Man in the end and suplexed her before leaving the arena.
#1. Lyra Valkyria could switch brands
Lyra Valkyria has been part of Monday Night RAW for the longest time in her career. She has competed against almost every woman on the red brand and is now out of competition, seeking new challenges and obstacles.
The inaugural WWE women’s Intercontinental Champion could switch brand and jump ships to Friday Night SmackDown, and could run for the women’s Championship directly, and could take part in the Queen of the Ring 2025, to clinch her spot at the top of the blue brand.
