Instagram has added two new features to help keep users updated on their in-app performance stats, with a “Recap” overview of key insights, and new celebrations for major milestones and account events.
Which it’s hoping will also act as motivation for creators.
As per Instagram:
“Being a creator can be tough, and we know you need the right insights, education, and encouragement throughout your journey. That’s why we’re introducing recaps and celebrations, two new features to help you feel more in control of your growth, understand how to succeed, and stay motivated.”

The first element (on the left above) is Recap, which will give you a summary of your key performance stats.
Instagram will begin sharing both weekly and monthly recap updates, which provide an update on post views, views from non-followers and follower growth.
Which could help you stay motivated, by seeing exactly how your efforts are driving growth, though if those stats start going backwards, that might have the opposite effect. Instagram does also note that it’ll provide feedback on areas where you can improve.
In any event, Instagram’s looking to ensure that more creators remain aware of their growth stats, outside of the “Insights” tab.
The second example shows IG’s new “Celebrations,” which will be presented as full-screen prompts when you reach new milestones, like certain follower growth thresholds, or posting a trending Reel.
Instagram says that this provides a means “to reflect on what you’ve accomplished,” with celebratory cards that you can share in your Stories.
Both could act as nudges to keep you going in the app, and working towards new milestones, effectively gamifying growth. And if IG can get more creators more excited about posting more often, that’s a big win, as it’ll then feed more content into its system.
I’m not sure it’ll have a big effect, but definitely you can see how prompts like this, when they signal major growth, could be a valuable push.
The new features are being rolled out to all creators from today.
