Bridgeport Islanders Mark 25 Years in AHL With Anniversary Logo, ‘Sound Tiger Saturdays’ – Sports activitiesLogos.Net News

The American Hockey League franchise in Bridgeport, Connecticut, is celebrating 25 years in the league with a new anniversary logo incorporating identities the team has used over that time period.

The team released the logo last week as part of the announcement of other 25th anniversary festivities. It features a white beveled block numeral ’25’ with angled serifs and an orange banner reading “EST. 2001” on a blue background. “BRIDGEPORT” is written out in orange above the numeral. The logo of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers sits on the left side, above the 2, while the Bridgeport Islanders’ current logo appears on the right side, above the 5.

Another version of the logo used in some website and social media graphics still features the beveled ’25’ and ribbon, but with the bottom of the numeral arched. “BRIDGEPORT” is written out above the numeral and “ISLANDERS” below, with waves from the Sound Tigers logo on top and waves from the Islanders logo at the bottom.

Along with the logos, the team announced “Sound Tiger Saturdays” home games throughout the 2025-26 AHL regular season, during which they’ll play in jerseys with the Sound Tigers logo on the front.

Following the announcement, the team presented a local sportscaster with a jersey bearing the Sound Tigers logo that had the same base and striping pattern as the Islanders’ regular jersey, which itself is a clone of their NHL parent club, the New York Islanders. The jersey also had a Sound Tigers secondary logo on the right shoulder and the NHL Islanders’ logo on the left.

It’s unclear if this is the final design for the Sound Tiger Saturday jerseys or just a placeholder. The AHL Islanders said in a press release last week that “the revamped design along with additional details regarding ‘Sound Tigers Saturdays’ and the 25th anniversary season will be unveiled later this summer when the full promotional schedule is announced.”

The team entered the AHL as the Sound Tigers in 2001, and have been affiliated with the NHL Islanders ever since. The NHL Islanders purchased the club from its original owners in 2004, changing the team colours from royal blue and black to navy blue and orange. The AHL team changed its name to Islanders in 2021.

Initially, the Bridgeport Islanders used a logo that featured a hockey stick making up part of a B, with a roundel in the background and “ISLANDERS” spelled out in white. They adopted their current logo — a reworking of their parent club’s infamous fisherman logo from the late 1990s — in July 2024.

The Islanders’ 2025-26 AHL regular season home opener takes place on Saturday, October 11, at Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut. This will also be the first of 14 Sound Tiger Saturdays throughout the season.
