Google’s rolling out some more AI-powered search options, including “agentic capabilities,” which will enable Google’s AI tools to undertake certain tasks on your behalf, as well as access to Google’s more advanced Gemini models.
First off, Google’s adding agentic capability into Search, which will enable Google’s AI tools to call businesses to get more info for a query as required.
Yes, Google AI will be able to get in touch with a local business, saving you from having to make a call yourself.

As you can see in this example sequence, with Google’s updated AI assistance, you’ll be able to enter in a query, and Google AI will then seek out the necessary information.
As explained by Google:
“From pet grooming to dry cleaning needs, Search can now call businesses to get pricing and availability information on your behalf — without you needing to pick up the phone. To get started, search for something like ‘pet groomers near me’ and you’ll see a new option in the results to ‘Have AI check pricing.’ From there, you can submit your request and Search will do the rest, consolidating information about appointments and services from different businesses to present you with a range of options.”
Google will use the data that it has immediately available, as well as robo-calls, to learn the necessary information. It’ll then present the information in a handy summary, based on what it’s able to glean from each local business.

That could be very handy, particularly for the growing number of people who don’t feel comfortable making phone calls.
Though it might be weird, at least at first, for the local business that gets a robo-voice call. Though they’ll get used to it quick, and it could make it much easier for people to find relevant options in their local area.
So, for business owners, prepare to get asked questions by unusually flat voices on the phone.
Google’s also giving users access to its more advanced AI models in AI Mode, with subscribers now able to access Gemini 2.5 Pro, which Google says “excels at advanced reasoning, math and coding questions.”

As you can see, Google AI Pro subscribers will now be able to select the 2.5 Pro model from a drop-down menu in the AI Mode tab.
Google says that the default model in AI Mode will continue to be helpful for fast, all-around assistance on most questions, but 2.5 will offer more assistance and reasoning capabilities for larger queries.
While OpenAI, xAI and Meta all push to become the leaders in the AI race, Google is quietly going about its business, and working out new ways to use its unmatched web discovery insights to power helpful new processes.
Can Gemini become a leader in the market? I guess Google’s betting more on its data access than anything else, and there are plenty of ways that incorporating AI into Search, and other Google options, could drive significant value for users.
These latest updates are another example of this, and it’ll be interesting to see how these latest AI options are utilized in its apps.
Google’s agentic option is being rolled out to all Search users in the U.S., with higher limits for Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers.
