The NFL announced on Friday that the eight AFC East and NFC teams participating in this year’s “Rivalries” uniform series will unveil their new community-inspired designs on Aug. 28.
The Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks also shared teaser videos that revealed when they uniforms would be worn.
The uniforms will debut during a home game against a divisional opponent and will remain in the team’s rotation for three years after their introduction, which would conceivably allow them to be worn against a different divisional opponent each season.
Matchups include the Seahawks at Cardinals on Sept. 25, Jets at Dolphins on Sept. 29, Patriots at Bills on Oct. 5, Jets at Patriots on Nov. 13, Seahawks at Rams on Nov. 16, Dolphins at Jets on Dec. 7, Rams at Seahawks on Dec. 18 and Seahawks at 49ers on a to-be-determined Week 18 date.
It’s not yet clear what the uniforms will look like, but we got our first hint(s) in the aforementioned teasers, which all begin with a graphical depiction of each team’s jersey transforming into a new design and end with a modified version of their respective logos in new colorways.
The Bills, for example, showed their blue home jersey in the snow before it became covered in frost and icicles. That, combined with the silver “Charging Buffalo” logo at the end, suggests they might introduce all-white uniforms with hints of silver as a nod to the “Nickel City.”
The Dolphins, meanwhile, had their white road jersey floating in the depths of the ocean before it was overtaken by bubbles. The mood of the video along with black or navy, aqua and orange version of their logo at the end suggests a darker uniform with brighter accents.
The Patriots also displayed their white road jerseys in a driving snowstorm, though there’s a noticeable lack of red in the video and their logo at the end, suggesting they’ll lean into dark navy blue uniform with white accents, mimicking the sky during a Nor’easter.
The Jets referred to their new look as their “Gotham City Football” uniforms, so it shouldn’t have come as a surprise to see their white road jerseys overcome by steam from the city’s heating system and a swamp-like shade of green that will undoubtedly be featured in the uniforms.
Elsewhere, the Cardinals will certainly be leaning into their warmer desert landscape after showing their red home jersey in the blowing sand. Their logo at the end has a texture pattern that brings to mind Oregon’s speckled eggshell uniforms, as well.
The Rams, who originally planned to unveil a new alternate uniform each season after revealing their current design, are finally poised to lean into dark navy blue with their new “Midnight Mode” uniforms, which – based on their logo at the end – will feature gold accents.
The 49ers, naturally, showed their red home jerseys being “mined” during the Gold Rush. But it was their subsequent post featuring a player behind saloon doors gave us a glimpse at their new helmets and dark-colored jerseys, which include Saloon-style drop shadow numbers.
Lastly, the Seahawks’ navy blue jerseys was shown trembling under the intense pressure that manifests under the decibel level at Lumen Field. This effect could be featured in some capacity on their uniforms, which will certainly include a heavy dose of green as nod to the “Emerald City.”
Every uniform will include a new helmet design, but it will be interesting to see if the Jets are allowed to add a fourth shell to their rotation or if they’ll simply change the decals on their standard green, black alternate or white throwback lids, though we suspect it’ll be the latter.
The Bills, Patriots, Cardinals and Seahawks all currently have just two helmets in their wardrobe, while the Dolphins, Rams and 49ers are among the five NFL teams without a second shell, with the Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders as the others.
The “Rivalries” series will expand to the AFC South and NFC North in 2026, AFC West and NFC East in 2027 and the AFC North and NFC South in 2028, marking the first league-wide promotion since the Color Rush” program that debuted in 2015 and ran through the 2017 season.
