Your announcements on LinkedIn are getting a refesh, with LinkedIn today launching an updated set of achievement animations and images, which will provide a fresh look to these posts in-stream.
As you’re no doubt aware, LinkedIn has a series of in-built GIFs and image templates to go along with various professional achievements and announcements, including that sun one, those planes, the cupcake, etc.

Though LinkedIn’s used the exact same animations for a long time, and they’ve pretty much lost their appeal or resonance. In fact, LinkedIn retired several of them late last year, but now, it’s rolling out some updated graphics to help make your professional updates stand out.

As explained by LinkedIn’s Head of Design Sarah Alpern:
“Starting today, you’ll begin to see 16 new celebration animations to choose from whenever you go to post about a new job, project, milestone, or anniversary, giving you options that match your personal style and message. The way you post will stay mostly the same, but these new visuals will help your story shine even brighter.”
As you can see in the above example, LinkedIn has a range of new animations for your professional announcements, all of which are animated in some way.

The fireworks explore, the flowers bloom, the pages turn, simple animations that will activate as users scroll, attracting more attention to your updates.
So it’s a new take on what had become a fairly generic element for many.
Which is probably a good thing, but then again, I’m not sure that it matters a heap to users who see these posts in-stream. But then again, the full-width GIF images do stand out, and could help to drive more attention to your announcements and updates.
So not a major functional update, but an interesting one, which could make your LinkedIn feed look a little fresher.
Well, at least until these ones get stale as well.
