US president Trump says European leaders need to see a deal executed forward of on-line summit

“Will be speaking to European leaders in a short while. They are great people who want to see a deal done.”

Zelenskyy has arrived in Berlin and is meeting with German chancellor Merz first before convening with the other European officials to discuss their position. As a reminder, Trump is due to meet Russian president Putin in Alaska in two days. So, the meeting here is mostly to get a feel of the mood of the situation before he faces Putin. Washington has tempered expectations of a ceasefire though, saying that the Trump-Putin meet is more of a “listening exercise”.
