Jordyn Huitema scored in the 65th minute for the visiting Seattle Reign, who earned a 1-1 draw against the Houston Dash on Sunday.
The Canadian forward notched her third goal of the season when she was able to deflect Sofia Huerta’s service into the box with her head. Huerta — a defender in her 10th year in the NWSL, who played two years in Houston — established a new record with her 32nd career assist.
After a scoreless first half, the Dash took a lead less than two minutes after halftime when Yazmeen Ryan was able to dribble around Seattle keeper Claudia Dickey for her second goal of the season.
With the tie, Houston (5-4-8, 19 points) earned at least a point for its fourth straight match, while Seattle (7-5-5, 26 points) settled for its second consecutive draw.
The Reign are currently in one of eight playoff positions in the league standings. The Dash, meanwhile, are in 10th place, two spots out of a playoff spot, but they are only two points behind eighth-seeded Gotham FC.
Houston controlled the ball for most of the game, and while the Dash attempted 14 shots, just two were on goal. Seattle, meanwhile, put two of its five attempts on goal.
Jane Campbell had a save for the Dash.
The start of the game was delayed by 20 minutes due to excessive heat.
