Canadian Hockey League Celebrates Five Decades of Excellence With fiftieth Anniversary Logo – Sports activitiesLogos.Net News

The Canadian Hockey League — the overarching body governing major junior hockey in Canada and the United States — is celebrating five decades of excellence with a new 50th anniversary logo.

The 2025-26 season marks the 50th season since the Western Hockey League, the Ontario Major Junior Hockey League (later the Ontario Hockey League) and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (later the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League) formalized their partnership and ratified a constitution that created the Canadian Major Junior Hockey League on May 8, 1975. It would be renamed the Canadian Hockey League in 1987.

To celebrate the milestone, the CHL announced on Thursday, September 25, a “series of initiatives honouring its enduring impact on the game of hockey and on developing players from Canada, the United States, and around the world.” They also unveiled a 50th anniversary logo in both English and French.

The logos feature each language’s respective logo in black and white, with a gold-gradient numeral 50 under the top left corner of the maple leaf and hockey player silhouette. The 50 has white and black outlines, and the entire logo has a broad white outline on dark backgrounds.

“The CHL’s 50th Anniversary season is a celebration of the history, the people, and the passion that have defined us. From iconic teams and players to unforgettable championships, the CHL and Member Leagues have left an unmatched imprint on the game. Thanks to the dedication of our clubs, the talent of our players, and the support of our fans, the WHL, OHL, and QMJHL stand together as the world’s premier junior hockey leagues. This season is both an opportunity to honour that legacy and a chance to continue building the future of the game for generations to come.”

— Dan MacKenzie, President, Canadian Hockey League

Along with the anniversary logo, the CHL has also launched CHL Moments, “a storytelling series that will spotlight the most iconic, historic, and defining milestones in league history.” It will also reveal a list of the CHL’s top 50 players from the last 50 years later this season.

Since 1969, 42 players from the OHL, QMJHL and WHL have been selected first overall in the National Hockey League Draft, accounting for nearly 75% of top picks in that time. CHL member leagues have produced 6,177 NHL-drafted players over that span, including at least 10 first-round draft picks every single year.

Of all the players who featured in at least one games during the 2024-25 NHL season, more than 40% of them were developed in one of the three CHL leagues.
