Carlos Alcaraz has given his truthful answer to the question a ‘lot of girls’ around the word are asking, at least according to former WTA pro Elena Vesnina.
Alcaraz is currently in action at the ATP Finals in Turin, where he played his opener against Alex de Minaur on Sunday. He beat the Aussie in straight sets, winning 7-6(5), 6-2 win to record his first opener victory at the year-end tournament in three attempts.
At his press conference afterwards, the Spaniard got a surprise visit from former Olympics doubles gold medal winner and three-time doubles Slam champ Vesnina. The Russian told Alcaraz that she wanted to ask a question not from his match, adding that it was a question many girls around the world wanted the answer to.
“I have a question from a lot of girls around the world. Your heart has been taken?” Vesnina asked.
The first time, Alcaraz did not understand what it meant when Vesnina asked him if his ‘heart was taken.’ However, when she clarified, the World No. 2 quickly responded with a laugh, confirming that he is indeed single at the moment.
“Sorry?” Alcaraz said.
“Your heart has been taken? Are you free?” Vesnina clarified.
“No, I’m free. I’m free. I’m free,” Carlos Alcaraz said.
With his win over De Minaur, Carlos Alcaraz is two wins away from confirming the year-end World No. 1 spot, which was won by Jannik Sinner last year.
Carlos Alcaraz on the difficulties of dating as a tennis player

Carlos Alcaraz has previously spoken about the difficulties of dating as a tennis professional, stating in a 2024 interview that the continuous travelling made it very hard to find a partner.
“No, I am single. I am looking for someone. It can be difficult as a tennis player to meet the right person because you are traveling all the time,” Alcaraz said in an interview with the Sunday Times.
Then in 2025 again, he confirmed that he was single, joking that he felt his turn to get engaged would be coming soon.
“Who knows this year [Laughing]… No, no, no, engagement so far. Single, so far. I laughed with some close people that during the break, 3 or 4 players got engaged. I thought it was my turn, but not yet,” he said at an Australian Open exhibition match.
Interestingly, a supermodel had said earlier this year that she was dating Alcaraz, but the World No. 2’s team rubbished the claim after it went viral.
