Spirit Fingers episodes 9 and 10 recap: Growing relationships, rising insecurities, and new conflicts

Episode 9 of Spirit Fingers begins with Song U-yeon and Nam Gi-jong growing closer as they start hanging out together after school. They chat regularly, enjoy each other’s company, and U-yeon begins to feel more confident.

Their peaceful routine is disrupted when her younger brother, Song U-dol, sees them together at a park. Worried that their mother is about to arrive and might see Gi-jong, U-dol asks him to leave immediately. Gi-jong goes, and U-yeon returns home with her brother.

At home, U-dol asks whether Gi-jong is her boyfriend and when U-yeon confirms it, he disapproves of the relationship. U-dol tells her not to meet Gi-jong anymore. When Gi-jong learns this, he decides to get closer to U-dol and ease the tension. He visits U-dol’s school and buys ice cream for him and his friend to improve their relationship. However, U-dol remains unmoved, which worries both U-yeon and Gi-jong.

After talking to his friends, Gi-jong challenges U-dol to a quiz match to impress him. However, U-dol is a prodigy with several quiz awards and Gi-jong loses the match. U-dol uses this win to demand that he stop meeting U-yeon.

U-dol remembers U-yeon telling him that she genuinely likes Gi-jong and hopes he will approve. Although her words affect him, U-dol remains torn because he knows their mother will not accept the relationship. Conflicted, he tells Gi-jong once more not to meet his sister. Still, U-yeon decides to see Gi-jong in secret.

Knowing this, U-dol tags along with U-yeon in the next Spirit Fingers meeting. During the meeting, U-dol struggles to understand its purpose. The adult members explain that the club is a space where people take time away from their daily routines to relax and express themselves freely, but U-dol isn’t convinced.

He participates anyway and feels more at ease until Gi-jong later joins the meeting, annoying him again. When Gi-jong poses for the Spirit Fingers members to draw him, U-dol deliberately tries to make the situation difficult for him. Episode 9 ends at this moment.

Episode 10 continues from here. Despite U-dol’s attempts to disrupt the session, Gi-jong succeeds in handling everything smoothly. U-dol is unexpectedly impressed.

Even though he still worries about their mother’s reaction, he gives Gi-jong his approval, which makes both U-yeon and Gi-jong happy as they continue their relationship. They grow closer as they spend more time together and learn more about one another.

Meanwhile, Nam Geu-rin and Koo Seon-ho face difficulties in their own relationship. Geu-rin’s ex suddenly reappears, telling her he returned because of her. This confuses Geu-rin and creates distance between her and Seon-ho. Seon-ho begins to feel that Geu-rin is becoming conflicted and possibly swayed by her ex’s sudden return.

At the same time, U-yeon begins questioning her purpose and dreams. She asks others about their goals, hoping it will help her understand her own, but she remains unsure. She only knows that she likes Nam Gi-jong. Gi-jong, meanwhile, has not thought much about his future and assumes he will continue doing small freelance modeling gigs.

One day, a modeling agency owner notices him during a shoot and approaches his photographer with interest. Gi-jong has always been indifferent toward pursuing modeling seriously, but U-dol’s warning that their mother will never approve of someone like him, begins to weigh on him. Wanting to improve himself for U-yeon, he accepts the offer from the agency owner.

U-yeon continues to feel conflicted, but she realizes she is no longer a coward. When she sees her mother showing favoritism toward her brothers and treating her unfairly, she stands up for herself.

Her mother is confused by this change, but U-yeon knows she cannot stay silent anymore. Unlike before when such confrontations has left her alone in darkness, she now finds comfort knowing she has Gi-jong.

The next day, Gi-jong has a photo shoot at his agency and invites U-yeon to visit so they can go on a date afterward. She gets ready with her friend’s help and arrives at the studio. Seeing Gi-jong at work for the first time leaves her in awe.

He stands out more than anyone else in the room, and his confidence makes her suddenly insecure. She begins to doubt whether his feelings for her are real, overwhelmed by how brightly he shines in that environment.

Unable to handle the emotions, Yu-yeon cancels their date, saying she needs to go home. Once there, she spirals into overthinking and questions their entire relationship. She again stars feeling insecure. By the end, her conflicted emotions deepen into resentment and she realizes she has started to hate Nam Gi-jong. Spirit Fingers‘s episode 10 ends with this realization.
