The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 season is fast approaching and the auction for the same will be held on Thursday, November 27, in Delhi. A total of 277 players will go under the hammer, of which 194 are Indians and 83 overseas.

73 slots are available to be filled, of which 50 are for Indian players and 23 for overseas. Each team can have up to 18 players, with six foreign cricketers, and at least 15 players in their squad. After the first 67 players are presented, the accelerated round will take place, with the five franchises nominating a set number of cricketers. Once the accelerated round is completed, the franchises will submit a selection of unsold or unpresented players from the tally of 277 for further bidding.

All five franchises have been allowed to buy back or retain at least five players, using either the retention or the Right to Match (RTM) option at the auction. The retentions can have up to three capped Indians, two overseas and two uncapped Indians among the five.

A franchise wanting to retain five players must ensure at least one of them is an uncapped Indian.
