Trey Yesavage and Taylor Frick had plenty to be thankful for this Thanksgiving
While Trey Yesavage and Taylor Frick might have celebrated many Thanksgiving Days together, this one must have felt extra special for all the right reasons.
To begin with, Yesavage made his MLB debut on September 15 for the Blue Jays. He set a franchise record by striking out nine batters in his major league debut while allowing one run over five innings.
Yesavage’s incredible debut and subsequent performances made him a reliable ace for the Blue Jays in their longest postseason run since 1993.
The rookie turned heads by pitching 5.1 no-hit innings in ALDS Game 2 against the New York Yankees. Moreover, he struck out 11 batters in that game, making him the most for any Blue Jays pitcher in a postseason game.
He also lived up when the Blue Jays needed him the most. In the pivotal World Series Game 5 against the LA Dodgers, Yesavage struck out 12 batters over seven innings, allowing just one earned run on three hits and no walks. The 12-Ks were most by any rookie in a game in World Series history.
Meanwhile, off the field as well, Yesavage scored big as he went down on one knee to pop the question to his longtime girlfriend Taylor Frick. The duo get engaged and wedding rings are in the air already.
