Laurie Canter has made a pretty bold decision to turn down his PGA Tour card to play for the LIV Golf. Following a successful 2025 season, Canter finished seventh in the PGA Tour card rankings, making him one of the ten golfers eligible for the 2026 season Tour Card. Interestingly, as Canter declined for this card, the 11th-place finisher on the rankings is all set to receive it.
According to Golf Monthly, Daniel Brown will be getting the 2026 season PGA Tour card after he narrowly missed out on it the first time. Brown lost some crucial points in the PGA Tour card rankings due to injuries and a poor T45 result at the DP World Tour Championship, which made him finish 11th on the rankings, barely 31 points behind the 10th-place finisher.
Thanks for the submission!
Laurie Canter, on the other hand, has joined with Majesticks GC in the Saudi-backed league, and he will be playing in an all-English team that includes Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood, and Sam Horsfield.
Talking about his last stint with the tour, at that time, Canter played for Cleeks GC during the 2022 season. Later in the 2023-24 season, he was benched as a reserve golfer, and although he played for a few teams, he was unable to secure a permanent place.
With impressive performance in the 2025 season, including 5 top 5 finishes and a win at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, Canter has earned his way back in the LIV circuit. Recently, he discussed rejoining the tour and how much it means to him to be a part of the Majesticks GC.
Laurie Canter says the Majesticks GC is a “major opportunity” for him

Following the announcement of his return to the LIV Golf circuit, Laurie Canter issued a statement emphasizing how big it is for him to return to the circuit. He explained how the tour has expanded over the years, and how playing on it has helped him become so excellent in recent years that he has won DP World Tour events.
According to Golf Digest, Canter stated,
“Joining Majesticks GC is an incredible opportunity to be part of a team that has helped shape LIV Golf from day one. The league’s growth has been remarkable, and my experience in the league has led me to become a more complete player and a multiple winner on the DP World Tour.”
The 36-year-old later added why the Majesticks is a perfect team for him, claiming,
“To return to the league with Majesticks GC is a huge honour, and they bring a standard of excellence, ambition, and identity that really resonates with me. I can’t wait to get started and contribute to what this team is building.”
The first tournament Laurie Canter will be playing back on the LIV Golf circuit is going to be LIV Golf Riyadh, which will take place on February 4-7, 2026.
