It’s the final week of the fantasy football regular season. For some of us, it’s exciting as we prepare for the playoffs. For others, it’s nerve-racking as we need to win and get in. There are also some of us who are just happy it’s over. No matter your situation, we’re here to win. Setting the optimal lineup is always our goal. In this article, I want to look at players who are flex-worthy or who may raise questions. Let’s dig deep and find the best players for Week 14.

Start this week:
Adonai Mitchell (WR) NYJ – You might not even have known that Mitchell is on the Jets. He was traded from the Colts to New York before the trade deadline. The change of scenery has done wonders for his fantasy value. In the last two weeks, Mitchell has had a 32.8% target share. He collected eight of twelve targets last week for 102 yards and a touchdown. This is a Jets team that doesn’t have much talent, and Mitchell gives them a major spark. Add and start Mitchell against Miami as he’s running a route on 83% of all Jets dropbacks. Last week, both Saints starting receivers scored on this Dolphins defense. I can see Mitchell having another strong outing with at least seven targets. Strong upside play.
Devaughn Vele (WR) NO – Another young wideout on a bad team that is seeing massive usage. Vele has 15 targets in the two games since the Saints BYE. He’s clearly the second option in the Saints’ passing game behind Chris Olave. In this two-game sample, Vele has an 89% route share and is averaging 15 PPR points. This is a Saints team that can’t run the football and is trailing in most games. Why wouldn’t you want a piece of that type of offense? This week, Vele plays the pass funnel Bucs, who allow the 11th most points to fantasy receivers. Vele is widely available across all formats.
Zonovan “Bam” Knight (RB) ARI – Nothing about Knight is exciting. He plays for a team that struggles to run the ball. Regardless, Knight is getting work, and that’s all we can ask for. Over the last three games, Knight has had 55% of the Cardinals’ rushing attempts. That hasn’t led to much. On the season, Knight has two games over 35 yards rushing. One, though, was last week against the Bucs, who are solid against the run. He’s a weapon in the pass game. His 11 targets in the last three games provide a solid floor. This week, he’ll face the Rams, who, on paper, have a stout run defense. They allow the fourth fewest points to opposing backs. That said, with Knight’s role in the passing game and ownership of goal-line work, he can come through for 10 PPR points. Don’t expect the world here. Monitor if Trey Benson or Emari Demercado returns.
Sit this week:
Woody Marks (RB) HOU – Last week, Marks dealt with a foot issue but returned to action. He finished the game with 19 carries for 64 yards. Marks has distanced himself from Nick Chubb of late, but it hasn’t translated to massive fantasy scoring. A major buzzkill has been Marks’ work in the pass game. He’s seen just three targets in his past three outings. This week, he faces a Chiefs front that is top-6 in fewest points allowed to fantasy backs. KC hasn’t allowed a 100-yard rusher since James Cook in Week 9, and he’s the only back to top 90 yards on the season against them. Marks hasn’t topped eight fantasy points since Week 10. Unless he finds the endzone, he won’t this week either, despite averaging 17.6 attempts per week.
Zay Flowers (WR) BAL – Offense is a struggle right now in Baltimore. Lamar Jackson looks off/injured. The passing game is disjointed. Nothing looks like it’s working. That’s bad news for Flowers managers. While Pittsburgh is a great matchup, the second most points allowed to receivers, I have no faith that Lamar Jackson can get him the ball. Since Jackson returned from injury in Week 9, Flowers has yet to top 80 yards receiving. He topped out at 14 fantasy points in Week 8, but last week we saw Flowers bottom out, scoring .60 points. It’s not that Flowers isn’t a good player. It’s that this offense is awful right now. Jackson hasn’t completed 20 passes or more since Week 3. When the passing game routinely produces under 200 yards, it’s hard to get there from a fantasy perspective. If you have no other options, fine. But I’d lower expectations for Flowers this week.
Courtland Sutton (WR) DEN – Sutton is finding more competition for targets from the likes of Troy Franklin and rookie Pat Bryant. In Week 13, Sutton’s route share dipped to its lowest (83%) since Week 2. Sutton’s target share has also dipped and hasn’t been over 20% in a month. This is another great matchup against the hapless Raiders, but how much will Denver even need to throw? We could see a game script where R.J. Harvey runs 20+ times and the Denver D/ST scores. If Sutton doesn’t score, he’s likely not coming through for your team. He’s produced just one week over 10 PPR points since Week 7. Proceed with caution.
