“Creepy, unnecessary”;”Completely agree” – Fans react after Marketa Vondrousova reveals nightmare anti-doping expertise in low season

Marketa Vondrousova recently made a concerning claim about a doping control tester. According to Vondrousova, the tester arrived at her home after 8 PM one day and firmly insisted on carrying out the test despite the Czech WTA star raising concerns about her privacy. The former World No. 6’s account during the tennis off-season sparked reactions from several fans, who completely agreed with the 2023 Wimbledon winner’s take.

On Wednesday, December 3, Vondrousova took to her Instagram Stories and shared the picture of the tester in question. The post included a written caption as well, through which the Czech criticized the tester’s behavior. She also tagged the official Instagram handles of the WTA, ITF and WADA, urging the bodies to change the way tennis players are currently tested. The 26-year-old wrote:

“Every day, we are required to be home for one specific hour for doping control. I respect that rule – every single day. Tonight, however, a tester arrived at 8:15 pm and told me that my declared time doesn’t matter and that I must be tested right now. When I pointed out that it’s outside my testing window and a serious intrusion into my privacy, I was told: ‘This is the life of a professional athlete,'”

Marketa Vondrousova added:

“Is it normal for doping officers to sit in our living rooms at night waiting for us to pee? This is not about avoiding testing – it’s about respect. Respect for the rules that we follow, and for the personal life that we’re entitled to after a long day of training and competition. Rules should apply to everyone, even to those enforcing them.”

Vondrousova’s post led to quite a lively discussion on the subject of doping and testers in tennis on Reddit. Most fans echoed the Czech’s sentiments.

“Testing, in many sports, is done in such a creepy, unnecessary way,” one fan wrote.

“Completely agree with her,” commented another.

“That sounds insane. Do they have to watch them peeing?,” wondered one.

“She’s absolutely right,” another added.

“And now repeat after me: TENNIS NEEDS A FUNCTIONING PLAYER’S ASSOCIATION WITH COMPULSORY MEMBERSHIP TO GIVE IT NEGOIATING POWERS OR NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE,” one opined.

“Woman should have a woman for safety reasons. I understand not wanting to let a strange man in your house at all hours,” weighed in yet another fan.

Despite her three career singles titles reflecting her undeniable on-court abilities, overall, Marketa Vondrousova’s career so far has seen numerous lows, particularly due to the Czech being worryingly prone to injury. Her 2025 tennis season was no different, as issues with her left shoulder and left knee severely impacted her participation at numerous women’s tennis events.

Marketa Vondrousova’s most recent competitive outing turned out to be yet another heartbreak, as the Czech ended her 2025 season with a mid-match retirement in the first round at the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo. Later, her compatriot and former No. 1 Karolina Pliskova controversially opined that Vondrousova retired when trailing Karolina Muchova because she knew she had “no chance” of winning the match.

Unimpressed by Pliskova’s remarks, Vondrousova fired back, wondering how her compatriot could voice such an opinion being a tennis player herself.
