Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem is set to release on December 9, 2025. This means that within a few hours, players will be enjoying the new update for the block game. The game drop will release several new mobs and mob variants like nautilus, zombie horse, camel husk, parched skeleton, etc. It also brings spear to the game, which can be crafted and used as a melee weapon with a special mechanic.
Though players will have to wait for the game drop, they can still do certain activities before Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem arrives.

5 activities to do before Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem releases
1) Craft saddles
In Mounts of Mayhem, a total of four new rideable mobs and mob variants are coming: nautilus, zombie nautilus, camel husk, and zombie horse. If players want to quickly find and ride these creatures in the latest update, they need to craft saddles.
Thankfully, saddles are now craftable, which means players can easily make loads of them and keep them ready for new mobs. Three leather parts and one iron ingot are needed to craft one.
2) Find Cold Ocean biomes
Before Mounts of Mayhem is released, players should also try to find various Cold Ocean biomes, such as Frozen Ocean, Cold Ocean, Deep Cold Ocean, and Deep Frozen Ocean. These biomes have a 50% chance of spawning the new nautilus mob, which players can tame and ride.
Hence, for those who are eagerly waiting for these creatures, they should try and locate colder oceans and wait for the update to drop so that nautiluses start spawning.
3) Practice spear movements in snapshots or beta
Spear is a new melee weapon that will be added with Mounts of Mayhem. It can be crafted using one stick and two earth minerals, such as iron ingots, copper ingots, or diamonds. The weapon has two kinds of attacks: jab and charge.
Though the weapon will release on December 9, 2025, players can still use it right now in snapshots, beta, and preview versions of Java and Bedrock Edition. They can practice with the spear and be ready by the time the game drop releases.
4) Find and keep Pufferfish
Before the game drop releases, players should also collect as many pufferfish as possible. This is because the nautilus can only be tamed by feeding it enough pufferfish or a bucket of pufferfish. Pufferfish have a 37-11% chance of spawning in warm and lukewarm oceans.
Furthermore, since pufferfish are rare, players could take some time to collect enough to tame nautilus.
5) Save netherite for horse armor
Players will finally be able to create netherite horse armor in Minecraft. As of now, the strongest horse armor is made of diamond. Hence, if players want their horse to get the strongest armor as soon as the game drop releases, they can start finding more ancient debris blocks to craft one netherite ingot, which they can use to convert diamond horse armor into netherite.
