Former World Heavyweight Champion clears the air on WWE return

Superstars and veterans often tend to return to WWE for another run, but there are times when rumors and speculations take the audience away from the truth. Recently, Hall of Famer The Great Khali cleared the air on a return to the Stamford-based promotion.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that The Great Khali is set to step inside the ring for the first time in nearly eight years for a match. While the return was for his own wrestling promotion, many fans assumed that the former World Heavyweight Champion would return to the Stamford-based promotion for another run.

In an interview on True Scoop TV, the host asked Khali about these rumors and speculations of a return to WWE. The Hall of Famer cleared the air and stated that people misinterpreted his upcoming appearance for CWE as a proper return to the Stamford-based promotion for another run.

“Look, that’s one of my companies, CWE. There’s going to be a big event in Jharkhand in which foreign wrestlers will also be there, and I will also be there. So, for those who don’t know, people associate wrestling with WWE, but it’s not,” Khali said. [Translated from Hindi to English]

When was the last time The Great Khali competed in WWE?

The Great Khali was once a dominant force in the Stamford-based promotion under Vince McMahon‘s regime. After his run with AJPW and CMLL, Khali made WWE his home for the foreseeable future. During his time as a performer, he shared the ring with several legendary names and even captured the World Heavyweight Championship.

In 2018, he had his last match for the company when he participated in the Greatest Royal Rumble match and lost. While he was not under a contract with the company, Khali made several one-off appearances and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021.
