An AEW star recently broke character to discuss how Bryan Danielson had affected his career. The American Dragon semi-retired last year after the Death Riders betrayed him at WrestleDream. Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and Danielson were part of the Blackpool Combat Club. While Yuta didn’t initially like the idea of his mentor getting decimated, he too joined them in stabbing the former World Champion in the back.
Wheeler Yuta is currently training under Jon Moxley’s watchful eyes. He has been involved in several tag team matches, but has yet to receive a singles push. Meanwhile, Danielson is currently a full-time commentator for AEW, and he takes multiple shots at Jon Moxley and his group often.
The Blackpool Combat Club was intact for a few years before it disbanded in 2024. While speaking with The Wrestling Classics, Wheeler Yuta recently broke character to reveal what he learned from the former AEW World Champion when they were together.
“There’s so many things that he [Bryan Danielson] taught me. It’s really tough to like narrow down one. All these little technique things that he used to show me and just kind of — I think that him and the rest of the Blackpool Combat Club really kind of taught me how to be a professional. You know, I was like a young guy coming up, he talked to me about things that no one even thinks about, like saving my money and how to present myself as a professional and be a good representative of the company, and things like that,” Yuta said. Wheeler Yuta claims that he ended Bryan Danielson’s career
AEW went to Manchester for the Holiday Bash edition of Dynamite and Collision. Along with the two shows, Tony Khan also taped for ROH.
During the ROH taping, fans witnessed a battle between Nigel McGuinness and Wheeler Yuta. Ahead of the contest, the latter stated that Bryan Danielson didn’t come to England because he retired the veteran.
“Bryan Danielson couldn’t travel here because I ended his career,” said Yuta.
It remains to be seen if the American Dragon is ever cleared to wrestle in the future and whether he will go after the Death Riders for revenge.
