John Cena’s protection of controversial choice will get referred to as out by former WWE star

John Cena’s defense of a controversial decision has been called out by a former WWE star. The Never Seen 17 tapped out to Gunther while smiling in his retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13. Jonathan Coachman recently discussed the bout’s outcome.

The outcome divided wrestling fans, with many disagreeing with the choice to have Cena tap out in his final match. In a conversation on What Do You Wanna Talk About? With Cody Rhodes, Cena shared why he went out with a smile.

The Champ said it was like acceptance of his fate, and it was like facing death with a smile. On Behind The Turnbuckle Studios’ Coach and Bro, a fan asked whether Cena’s explanation was acceptable. Former WWE announcer Jonathan Coachman slammed the reasoning and said it wasn’t the right decision.

“Let me start this because I thought it was complete bullsh*t, and I love John Cena and all the people that heard me say, ‘Would it have killed them to literally let them go home happy one night?’ ‘You don’t understand wrestling. Look what Cena said. This was the way he wanted it.’ So all you idiots, and it’s actually some people I respect, and I like that also said that on social media. This is wrestling. Just because John Cena said it doesn’t mean that it was the right decision, does it?” Coachman said.

Seth Rollins defended the decision to have John Cena tap out in final match

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Seth Rollins defended the decision to book John Cena to submit in his final WWE match.

The Visionary explained that had Cena won, nobody would have been talking about it or his opponent, Gunther. He said at the end of the day, it was always about the future, and The Franchise Player understood it better than anybody.

Rollins also mentioned that Cena smiling before tapping out meant he knew what he was doing.
