The Los Angeles Chargers will wear their navy blue “Super Chargers” alternate uniforms for the third and final time this season when they host the Houston Texans on Saturday, with kickoff set for 4:30 p.m. on CBS.
The uniforms resemble – but aren’t an exact replica of – what the Chargers wore at home from 1998-2006, as they feature the same style of white lightning bolt on the helmets, shoulders and down the sides of the pants with a navy blue and gold stroke/outline.

Key differences, meanwhile, include the white number on the helmets, which (like the jerseys) is rendered in Los Angeles’ current font. They also only wore navy blue jerseys and pants just once prior to this season, which was a 26-10 loss to the Miami Dolphins in 2003.

As mentioned, this marks the third appearance for the “Super Chargers” uniforms – which were unveiled this summer alongside their gold “Charger Power” alternate uniforms and powder blue alternate pants – joining a 37-10 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Oct. 23 and a 31-14 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Nov. 30.

Los Angeles wore the gold “Charger Power” uniforms in a 38-24 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 19, as well as powder blue pants with powder blue home jerseys in a 27-10 loss to the Washington Commanders on Oct. 5 and a 22-19 overtime win against the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 8.

The powder blue pants were also worn with the Chargers’ white road jerseys in a 20-9 win at the Raiders on Sept. 15, 27-20 win at the Tennessee Titans on Nov. 2 and a 34-17 win at the Dallas Cowboys on Dec. 21. The games against the Titans and Eagles featured white socks, while the others had matching powder blue socks.
In addition to the uniforms, the Chargers have painted a vintage design in the end zones at SoFi Stadium that mimics their time in San Diego, just like they did in the wins over the Vikings and Raiders. This design was also used upon their move to Los Angeles in 2017 until it was replaced by their current branding in 2020.
