Real Madrid fans are sceptical about Aurélien Tchouaméni starting the Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona. They believe that the Frenchman will make mistakes and end up losing them the game.
Thibaut Courtois keeps his place in the starting XI as expected, with Federico Valverde and Alvaro Carreras as the full-backs. Raul Asencio is fit and starts at center-back, but Antonio Rudiger is replaced by Dean Huijsen.
Thanks for the submission!
Tchouaméni and Edouard Camavinga are the midfielders today, with Jude Bellingham playing alongside them. Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr and Gonzalo Garcia keep their place in the attack though Kylian Mbappe is back in the squad.
Fans are worried about the midfield and posted:
Xabi Alonso spoke about the Frenchman ahead of the game, admitting that they were evaluating the minutes he should get in the match. In his pre-match press conference, the manager said that the striker was training, and said:
“He’s much better. The initial idea was that he was just fit to play against Atletico, so we decided not to rush him, but if we reached the final, depending on how he felt, he would come. When he trains today, we’ll have all the information we need to assess him and see if he’s ready to start or play a little less.”
“We have to measure the risk. Know what’s at stake and take responsibility for the decisions. We’re not kamikazes when it comes to making decisions. It’s a controlled risk.”
Kylian Mbappe missed the win over Real Betis in the least earlier this month, and also sat out of the semifinal against Atletico Madrid last week due to a knee sprain.
Real Madrid project is evolving, says Xabi Alonso
Xabi Alonso has been under pressure in recent weeks, with reports suggesting that Real Madrid were ready to sack him if needed. There were reports of tension between the manager and some players, but when quizzed, the Spaniard said:
“Projects evolve over time. We’ve been here for just over four months. We’re evolving in terms of our football, our emotions, and the team spirit. We feel connected to the players. These matches can have a big impact on what’s to come. The players are committed to the moment we’re in and what’s ahead. It won’t be decisive, but it will be important. It’s football. Anything can happen. We’re preparing to win. We’re confident.”
Real Madrid defeated Barcelona earlier this season, but remain four points behind them in the league table.
