NFL followers react to Kyle Shanahan claiming Sam Darnold used drug to play by indirect harm

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold was added to the injury report ahead of the NFC divisional round game versus the 49ers on Saturday. The quarterback felt discomfort during Friday’s practice and did not finish the session, leading to his “questionable” designation.

However, he played through an oblique issue and helped the Seahawks win 41-6. The victory sent Seattle to the NFC championship game.

San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan shared that Darnold took Toradol for his injury.

“I know Sam would have an oblique so warmups are like that, but it takes a while for the Toradol to kick in,” Shanahan said during the postgame presser.

“So we knew he’d be fine once kickoff came. Which doesn’t really have to do with pressure. Sometimes it can affect how they throw, but usually when that Toradol kicks in, it doesn’t. Sam played really well today.”

Fans reacted to his statement.

“What a loser,” a fan commented.

“Toradol works immediately. He is clueless and should be fired,” one fan tweeted.

“That’s a wild statement🤣🤣,” a fan wrote.

“Sounds salty talking about Toradol🤣,” another fan commented.

Others praised Darnold’s performance despite injury and medication.

“Toradol needs time to kick in… meanwhile Seahawks kicked in the door 41-6 🤣,” a fan said.

“Toradol before kickoff is INSANE. I’ve had that prescribed to me for a back injury and it’s makes you a little groggy. Great way to push through for the team,” another fan tweeted.

Sam Darnold after Seahawks’ rout of 49ers

Sam Darnold delivered on the field and made his confidence clear after the Seattle Seahawks defeated the San Francisco 49ers 41-6. Despite entering the game with a questionable designation, he helped Seattle advance to the conference championship.

Darnold completed 12 of 17 passes for 124 yards and one touchdown, providing early control after Rashid Shaheed’s 95-yard kickoff return set the tone.

He also sent a message to the rest of the playoff field after the game.

“We’ll see who we play tomorrow, obviously, but you know, no matter who it is, we’ve got a great squad, a really resilient bunch, a group that I’d play football with any day of the week,” Darnold said. “So, I’m really proud to be a part of this team and this organization.”

Seattle is one step from reaching the Super Bowl.
