Best specs to most important in WoW Midnight

WoW Midnight is going to shake gameplay up for sure, for several classes, but what specs are going to be the best? Well, that primarily depends on what kind of gameplay you tend to focus on. If you’re a Mythic+ grinder, your needs in terms of classes are going to be different than, say, someone who is focused solely on PVP. As I always say though, I think you should pick what looks interesting, instead of what’s topping meters.

That said, some parts of the game are very focused on what’s in the meta, and what’s most powerful/efficient. In particular, success in Mythic+ content often hinges on playing what’s the best right now. While this list is subject to change, here are what I think are the best specs going into WoW Midnight to main.

Best specs to main in WoW Midnight for Mythic+

  • Frost Mage
  • Demonology Warlock
  • Augmentation Evoker
  • Unholy Death Knight
  • Fury Warrior
  • Restoration Druid
  • Discipline Priest
  • Brewmaster Monk
  • Protection Paladin

When considering the best specs to main in WoW Midnight for Mythic+, one of the most important things all around is how hard they hit. You’re trying to clear packs as fast as possible, and having strong AOE/cleave damage is important. Single-target is also important for bossing. Frost Mage, Demonology Warlock and Augmentation Evoker are all outstanding DPS picks, but I’d also recommend Unholy Death Knight or Fury Warrior if you want something melee oriented.

When you look at Healers, you want them to be mana efficient, while also having great heals. Right now, it’s looking like being able to handle high-burst damage is going to be important, but also having some type of dispel is important. Hence, Restoration Druid and Discipline Priest standing out right now. They’re also rated quite highly in our healer tier list.

Brewmaster Monk does well in terms of damage, but also because it has self-sustain, making it an ideal tank. If the healer can focus on also dealing damage, and less on healing, the run has the potential to go much faster. Protection Paladins simply deal monstrous damage, and, at least, on the Beta server are mighty, partially thanks to Glory of the Vanguard. They won’t have that on live until the expansion launches though. I’ve got a really good feeling about Protection Paladin going forward, that’s for sure.

Best specs to main in WoW MIdnight for Raiding

  • Devourer Demon Hunter
  • Frost Death Knight
  • Arcane Mage
  • Subtlety Rogue
  • Discipline Priest
  • Restoration Druid
  • Protection Warrior
  • Blood Death Knight

I put Devourer Demon Hunter in solely because it’s new, and I have a hard time believing it didn’t come in ready to grind content. I might wind up being wrong about that, but time will tell. However, when it comes to the best DPS specs to raid in WoW Midnight, Frost Death Knight, Arcane Mage, and Subtlety Rogue are all top choices. While I’m not crazy about the Sub Rogue changes, I still think it’s going to be a solid pick, even if it’s less fun.

Restoration Druid and Discipline Priest once again stand on top, but they’re the best healers in WoW right now, so it’s not a shock they’d do well here too. Between their incredible buttons for healing, and utility options, they’re must-haves in every raid group, no matter the difficulty level.

I’ve always said that Protection Warrior is boring, but always excellent. They have fantastic cooldowns, and if you aren’t running Arms/Fury Warriors, they can take their slot, by activating Battle Shout (and also Rallying Cry). Blood Death Knights might have seen a slight nerf to Death Strike, but they remain the top sustain tank, with the potential exception of Brewmaster Monk. I think Blood Death Knights still edge them out, but it’s close.

Best specs to main in WoW Midnight for PVP

  • Unholy Death Knight
  • Subtlety Rogue
  • Fire Mage
  • Mistweaver Monk
  • Holy Paladin
  • Protection Paladin
  • Blood Death Knight

PVP is really more about knowing matchups, and knowing your class, than actual power (but having a powerful class does help). Unholy Death Knights ability to throw down an army (and a buffed minion) for example is fantastic. Subtlety Rogues damage and ability to CC down targets cannot be under, and Fire Mages still have a ton of burst.

Both Mistweaver Monk and Holy Paladin are solid hands in PVP, with ways to keep themselves and others alive, while also dropping quick, hard-hitting blows. As far as tanks go, I don’t really think they’re quite as important in PVP, but if you’re going to play one in WoW Midnight, Protection Paladin and Blood Death Knight both offer incredible protection, survivability, and not to mention, damage.
