ONE Fight Night 39: “My hard work is starting to pay off”

‘The Dagestan Ninja’ Asadula Imangazaliev’s world championship dreams are becoming reality one knockout at a time.

The undefeated Russian contender continued his perfect surge in the world’s largest martial arts organization inside Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, last Friday (U.S. primetime), Jan. 23.

He overcame former multi-time world champion Kongthoranee Sor Sommai via second-round KO in their flyweight Muay Thai tiff at ONE Fight Night 39: Rambolek vs. Dayakaev on Prime Video.

Just days after his US$50,000 performance bonus-winning display, the Team Mehdi Zatout athlete took to his Instagram account (@asadula_imangazaliev) to share his delight and what his win in Bangkok, Thailand, represents for his career.

“Another victory. I’m very happy that my hard work is starting to pay off. This was an important win for me and for my future career,” the 22-year-old slugger wrote.

His declaration during a post-fight interview, “I will sit here with the belt,” wasn’t just an empty prediction. It was a visualization from someone who has destroyed everyone standing in his path.

The hard work he referenced has built an 11-0 record featuring devastating knockouts, tactical intelligence, and dangerous striking. Thus, it shouldn’t take the young gun long to reach for the stars and claim the vacant ONE flyweight Muay Thai world championship gold.

Asadula Imangazaliev details his destructive knockout of Kongthoranee

During the post-event press conference in Bangkok, Thailand, Asadula Imangazaliev broke down his savage body shot finish of the former three-time Rajadamnern Stadium Muay Thai world champion.

“I saw that he had a good block for his head, but my cornerman, my brother Mehdi [Zatout], told me to give him body shots. And two, three times I gave, and I saw his face change. Then I understood what I needed to do [to finish the fight],” he stated.

His victory over Kongthoranee was his seventh straight win under the ONE spotlight. The 22-year-old has knocked out six opponents throughout that impressive streak.
