My cousin had an enormous crush on Sree

Former India pacer S Sreesanth‘s wife Bhuvneshwari Kumari revealed an interesting tale of how she met him for the first time. The couple appeared on a recent episode of ‘Who’s The Boss?‘.

Bhuvneshwari recalled seeing Sreesanth for the first time during an India-Pakistan match in Gwalior after the 2007 T20 World Cup. Her cousin had a huge crush on the pacer and insisted that she meet Sreesanth.

“I met him in Gwalior. There was an India-Pakistan match. I was in the girls school. My cousin had a huge crush on Sree. He was wearing this Beats headphone and all and she said this cricketer is looking nice. I said he’s not that nice also. It was immediately after the T20 World Cup (2007). We had gone to watch a game and he was not playing. He saw me there and he was telling my friends call that girl,” she said.

She further mentioned how her cousin asked the police on the ground to pass a paper to Sreesanth, asking for his number. The pacer also responded, giving his number and asking the police to pass the paper back to them.

“I was not interested to go. My cousin told me to and I was like okay. You were not allowed in the cricketer’s box. I felt very humiliated that how dare he calls me and at least he should step out, but I did not know that time that there were protocols and you cannot come out. I went down in anger. He then comes down, and my cousin wanted his number. She was interested. She wrote something on a paper and gave it to the police. They gave it to him and he wrote his number on it. The police came and gave it to us,” she added.

Adding on, Sreesanth, who was benched for that game, revealed that he got a positive vibe when he saw Bhuvneshwari for the first time. He even made a song for her in Tamil when he first met her on the ground.

“I was not playing that game. It was not love at first sight but it was like she is so nice and it was more like a positive vibe. When I met here for the first time on the ground, I had made a song in Tamil for her,” he said.

Bhuvneshwari stated that they started as friends and that she gradually came to know him as a person.

“Then we became friends. Then you tell your friends that you’ve got a cricketer’s number. Then I saw the crowd rushing towards him and I got charmed there. For a very long time we were just friends. But then I got to know that he is a very good human being.”

The couple eventually tied the knot in December 2013 at Guruvayur Sri Krishna temple in Kerala.
