Analyst Jason Whitlock has slammed the latest women’s college basketball ratings boom despite its record ESPN viewership this season. On Wednesday, it was reported that ESPN networks had their most-watched women’s college basketball regular season since the 2008-09 season. It was also claimed that South Carolina and LSU’s clash on Feb. 14 led the way with 1.7 million views.
However, Whitlock offered a unique perspective on the ESPN viewership ratings for women’s college basketball this season.
“Who believes this? The buzz around women’s college hoops regressed incredibly this year. They keep coming up with new ways to count viewers. It’s a Ponzi scheme that speaks to how bad Super Bowl ratings were. Everybody’s numbers went up EXCEPT the Super Bowl,” Jason Whitlock tweeted on Thursday.
According to reports, Super Bowl 2026 between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots averaged 125.6 million viewers across all platforms (NBC, Peacock, Telemundo, NFL+). It was ranked as the second most-watched U.S. television event in history, with Seattle winning the game 29-13.

Jason Whitlock criticizes Bam Adebayo’s 83-point game for Miami Heat vs. Washington Wizards

Miami Heat guard Bam Adebayo scored a career-high 83 points against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday. However, Jason Whitlock wasn’t too impressed with the Miami star’s performance.
“Bam’s 83 points make Sosa & McGwire look legit. The NBA is in shambles. The Hawks should re-announce Magic City Night to take attention away from Bam diminishing Kobe and Wilt. NBA should be embarrassed,” Whitlock tweeted on Tuesday.
Adebayo surpassed the legendary Kobe Bryant’s 81-point game in January 2002. However, the Heat star’s iconic performance only trails Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point performance from 1962.
