The Mexican Liga MX returns with a fresh set of fixtures as Club America and Mazatlan square off at the Estadio Azteca on Sunday. Having failed to win the last seven meetings between the two teams, Sergio Bueno’s men will head into the weekend looking to get one over the hosts and secure back-to-back league wins for the first time since January 2025.
Club America placed one foot in the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup in midweek when they secured a 1-0 victory over Philadelphia Union in the first leg of their last-16 clash at Subaru Park.

Andre Jardine’s side now turn their focus to Liga MX, where they snapped their run of two back-to-back defeats last Sunday when they secured a 2-1 victory over Queretaro at the Estadio La Corregidora.
Club America have picked up four wins and two draws from their first 10 league matches to collect 14 points and sit ninth in the table, level on points with eighth-placed Monterrey.
On the other hand, Mazatlan returned to winning ways last weekend as they edged out Club Leon 4-2 when the two sides squared off at the Estadio de Mazatlan.
This followed a 4-1 loss against Atletico San Luis on March 4, a result which saw their run of three consecutive winless games in the league (2W 1D) come to an end.
Mazatlan have picked up 10 points from their 10 Liga MX matches so far to sit 15th in the standings, level on points with Club Necaxa and Club Leon.
