An upcoming WWE PLE is reportedly in danger of being canceled. New details have emerged regarding this.
World Wrestling Entertainment has established a fruitful partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia over the past few years. This saw the sports entertainment juggernaut host a couple of PLEs in the Kingdom every year. Over the years, the company has hosted Crown Jewel, Night of Champions, and even the Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia. The Stamford-based promotion were also set to host this year’s Night of Champions as well as next year’s WrestleMania. However, Night of Champions could be in jeopardy given the current tensions in the country.
Thanks for the submission!
During a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter Daily Update, Dave Meltzer noted that Night of Champions which was supposed to take place in Saudi Arabia won’t happen unless things in the world change. He also noted that given the current situation in the country, big events are not happening across various sports like Formula 1, UFC, boxing, or World Wrestling Entertainment.
“Regarding WWE and Saudi Arabia, while nothing has been said officially nor decided 100 percent, most are of the impression the July PPV there is unlikely to happen. Unless things change in the world, WWE won’t be going there due to the risk. There were two more shows scheduled this year plus Mania next year. All are contingent on the situation changing as right now big events scheduled for the country are not happening, wheter it be Formula 1, UFC, boxing or WWE.” [H/T F4wonline]

WWE WrestleMania 43 could also reportedly be in jeopardy
WrestleMania is World Wrestling Entertainment’s biggest PLE of the year. Therefore, it was shocking news when the sports entertainment juggernaut announced the Showcase of Immortals would be taking place in Saudi Arabia next year. However, this could also be in jeopardy.
According to a recent report from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there have been discussions within the Stamford-based promotion about the upcoming two PLEs in Saudi Arabia this year, as well as WrestleMania 43, given the conflict in the Middle East. However, only discussions have taken place, and no decisions were made.
It remains to be seen what decision the sports entertainment juggernaut makes regarding these PLEs.
