Take Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick recently assured that GTA 6 will not be delayed beyond November 19, 2026. The much-awaited title from Rockstar Games was initially set to release in the fall of 2025. The first delay pushed it back to May 26, 2026, and the second delay pushed it further to November 19, 2026. After the second delay, many fans were skeptical whether the developers would be able to finish the game this year.
In a recent interview on CNBC’s Mad Money with Jim Cramer, Strauss Zelnick was asked whether he was sure that Rockstar Games would deliver the game on the current release date. Take Two CEO explained that the company has been tracking the development very closely and is confident that the title will be ready for release by November.
Strauss then also mentioned that without solid confirmation of a release date, the company would never splurge on marketing the product.
Here’s what he said:
“Well, because we actually, obviously, tracked the progress daily of everything that we do. And we also announced that we have marketing coming this summer. We don’t spend money on marketing until we are pretty close to release.”
In a recent Take Two earnings call on February 3, 2026, Strauss Zelnick confirmed that GTA 6‘s marketing campaign will commence in the summer. This was massive news for millions of fans, who have been eagerly waiting for any content related to the game since the second delay announcement.
Since Strauss revealed the game’s marketing strategy in an earnings call, it means that Take Two is highly confident about the November 19 release date.
Take Two CEO debunks rumors about GTA 6 physical copy availability at launch
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently debunked rumors that GTA 6 physical copies would not be available at launch.
This rumor surfaced from a Polish publication named PPE.pl, in which a reputed insider, Graczdari, claimed that the game’s physical copies might not be sold at launch. Since they were involved in the sales of physical copies of video games across Europe, this rumor picked up pace and quickly became a massive deal for fans.
In an interview with Variety, he was asked whether this rumor had any weight to it. Strauss simply stated that there were no plans to hold back physical copies of Rockstar Games’ title. He said:
“That’s not the plan.”
This means that on November 19, 2026, fans will be able to purchase GTA 6 from PlayStation or Xbox stores, or from a physical video game store.
