On February 5, 2026, Netflix confirmed a new romantic comedy led by BLACKPINK’s Lisa. The streamer depicted the film as inspired by the 1999 hit Notting Hill. The script is written by Katie Silberman, known for Set It Up and Booksmart. Production will be handled by David Bernad through Middle Child Productions. Meanwhile, the Thai rapper herself joins Alice Kang as an executive producer. Notably, Kang formerly worked with her on the 2025 Born Again MV.
According to Deadline, creative discussions began after a shared interest in Notting Hill. That film starred Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant, and was directed by Richard Curtis. Plot details remain unknown for now. Industry chatter implies the story may focus on a globally known figure. Although the streamer has confirmed nothing. Still, fans are already looking onwards to her new rom-com.
“Ok this is insane. Lisa movie star era is here,” an X user commented.
Many couldn’t hide their excitement to watch the 28-year-old in the genre.
Others are excited by the rapid growth of the ROCKSTAR singer’s acting journey. Many are amazed that she is already involved in four projects, applauding her range as she shifts from The White Lotus to an action film, a personal documentary, and now a rom-com.
Supporters are also buzzing over her executive producer role. Netizens are calling this year a standout moment for her, expressing pride in her expanding career.
BLACKPINK’s Lisa expands acting Career With Film, Series, Documentary
BLACKPINK’s Lisa first stepped into acting through season three of The White Lotus last year. The series, created by Mike White, featured her as Mook at a Thailand resort. Following that debut, reports linked her to a Korean project titled TYGO. In December 2025, casting was approved for the Extraction spin-off film. The film expands the Extraction universe led by Chris Hemsworth.
The cast includes Don Lee, also known as Ma Dong-seok, alongside Lee Jin-wook. At the same time, a documentary centered on the BLACKPINK maknae is also currently in production. It is a collaborative endeavor between Sony Music Vision and director Sue Kim.
Last year, Lisa released her debut solo album, Alter Ego, a 15-track project with songs from rap to pop and collabs with names like Doja Cat, Rosalía, Megan Thee Stallion, Future, RAYE, and Tyla. She also journeyed with BLACKPINK on the DEADLINE world tour. Now, the K-pop idol is gearing up for a fresh group 5-track record release this month.
