AEW genuinely desirous about signing two former WWE Superstars

AEW is interested in bringing in former WWE Champions following their recent departure, according to the latest report. The duo had a short-term contract with a major promotion until recently.

The former WWE Superstars, Jessie McKay and Casie Lee (fka Billie Kay and Peyton Royce), reportedly have interest from AEW. The duo was known by their tag team name, ‘The IIconics,’ during their tenure in the Stamford-based promotion from 2015 to 2020, where they won the Women’s tag titles as well. They joined TNA in 2022 under a new name, ‘The IInspiration.’

Jessie McKay and Casie Lee had signed a short-term deal with TNA last year, which expired recently after they lost their Knockouts Tag Team titles, and they are currently free agents. Meanwhile, the latest report from Fightful Select revealed that there has been interest from All Elite Wrestling in signing the erstwhile IIconics to the promotion.

Former WWE stars on their lackluster title reign

The former WWE stars, IIconics, won the Women’s Tag Team Championship in a great moment at WrestleMania 35 back in 2019. During an interview with MuscleManMalcolm back in 2023, Jessie McKay (fka Billie Kay) admitted that while their winning moment was great, the title reign felt lackluster, as they could’ve done so much more:

“Unfortunately, our reign was kind of, hmm, kind of all over the place. Unfortunately, that’s just how the business is though. We could’ve done so much more with that, we felt like. But, we just took every opportunity we got given and we just tried to make it the best as we can. Like the (post-match) tantrum and everything. I feel like everything we had thrown at us, we took it and ran with it and we just wanted to entertain people and yeah so…,” McKay said.

Fans will have to wait and see if Jessic McKay and Cassie Lee will be joining AEW after their TNA contract has expired.
