Mercedes Moné breaks social media silence following large announcement

Wrestling sensation Mercedes Moné recently shared a cryptic message on social media. The star has been away from AEW TV for a few weeks.

The CEO’s recent tease comes after she announced an indefinite hiatus from AEW. The star felt that she was being disrespected and needed some time away from the company. Possibly she also wanted to build up some momentum through international title defenses following some tough losses in recent months.

This week, Moné was announced for a CMLL World Women’s Championship defense on March 6, 2026, against an unnamed opponent. The major appearance will be part of the company’s all-women La Noche De Las Amazonas event in Mexico City. Mone has held the title since June 2025 and has three successful title defenses under her belt. After the announcement, the CEO took to Twitter to share her thoughts. He tweeted eyes and a trophy emoji, possibly suggesting that she has her eyes on the prize heading into the major title defense.

Mercedes Moné is currently taking a break from AEW

After a stellar 2025, Mercedes Moné was on a downward spiral towards the end of the year. She couldn’t get the win in some important matches and even lost some of her titles to the likes of Leila Grey, Red Velvet, and Alex Windsor.

The CEO hit her breaking point when she lost her TBS Championship to Willow Nightingale, bringing an end to her historic reign with the title. The following week, the star was powerbombed into a cake during Willow’s championship celebration. On the following episode of Collision, the star appeared in a video package.

Mercedes said that she was tired of the disrespect and would take a break from AEW. The 34-year-old star mentioned that when she returned, she would be coming for more than just titles.
