NFL followers react as Vikings reportedly emerge as high spot QB commerce targets

The Minnesota Vikings have become one of the most discussed quarterback landing spots this offseason, with multiple veteran quarterbacks reportedly interested in joining the team.

Speaking on NFL Live, ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler reported on Friday.

“My sense right now, from asking around, is all the top quarterbacks that will be, or could be, available, Kyler Murray, Geno Smith, this is the place they want to go. It is Minnesota,” Fowler said.

“Do they get Rodgers this time…?” one fan said.

Here are some more reactions from fans.

“With a half decent QB, they are playoff locks,” one fan said.

“O’Connell + Justin Jefferson, fairs. And if Sam Darnold could prove himself there and really showcase his turnaround, a lot of QBs would like their opportunity as well fs,” another fan said.

“Well of course. You have an excellent offensive mind and the best receiver in the league. Along with other good weapons, a solid OLine and a great defensive coach. Why not,” a fan said.

Minnesota’s situation gained attention after a difficult 2025 season in which J.J. McCarthy struggled with performance and injuries. The organization has since indicated it plans to bring in a veteran quarterback to compete, though that does not necessarily end McCarthy’s role with the team.

Fowler pointed to the presence of star wide receiver Justin Jefferson and head coach Kevin O’Connell as major reasons the Minnesota appeals to veteran passers. Minnesota has also been linked to several potential options, including Aaron Rodgers and a possible reunion with Kirk Cousins.

Adam Schefter downplays George Paton-Vikings rumors

Adam Schefter addressed speculation linking George Paton to the Minnesota Vikings general manager opening, suggesting a move is unlikely. Speaking with Vic Lombardi, Schefter said:

“I know the name’s come up… I didn’t get any indication that was the case, ” Schefter said. “George is pretty content and Denver is intent upon keeping him in Denver.”

Broncos owner Greg Penner has also publicly expressed interest in retaining both Paton and head coach Sean Payton long term. This fuels expectations that a contract extension could eventually follow.
