“I was able to stay composed”

ONE lightweight MMA contender Adrian Lee of Singapore and the United States proved he is wise beyond his years at ONE Fight Night 40.

After getting rocked by Shozo Isojima in Round 1 of their three-round contest, the 19-year-old stayed calm under siege and managed to turn things around.

‘The Phenom’ stuck to his game plan and imposed his will to score a resounding comeback TKO victory to get back on the winning track.

While Lee’s well-rounded arsenal once again shone, it was his mental fortitude under fire that powered him to victory.

The Prodigy Training Center affiliate spoke about his impressive performance in his post-event interview with ONE:

“Definitely. I feel like one thing that has definitely upped a lot was my composure in adversity. That’s something I’ve been writing in all my notes, I’ve been working on constantly ever since that fight. Even though I faced some adversity in this fight, I was able to stay composed, I was able to stick to the game plan, and execute it.”

Lee certainly learned a lot after absorbing the first loss of his career to ONE welterweight submission grappling king Tye Ruotolo.

Adrian Lee rates his performance against Shozo Isojima

A perfectionist through and through, Adrian Lee wasn’t pleased by his victory over Shozo Isojima at ONE Fight Night 40.

While he secured another first-round finish, he admits his defense could use a lot of work after getting caught by that early one-two.

‘The Phenom’ told ONE in the same interview:

“I give it like a seven, maybe. Honestly, for me, I’m quite upset with myself that I got caught with that punch, but it’s a fight. For me, unless it’s flawless-flawless, then you can’t get higher than a seven.”
