Iga Swiatek’s father, Tomasz, has lashed out at a recent analysis of her daughter’s team dynamics. The Pole was accused of being too close to her psychologist, Daria Abramowicz.
Swiatek began working with Abramowicz in 2020. Together, they have won five Grand Slam titles, including three French Opens on the WTA tour.
Thanks for the submission!
Swiatek’s former first team coach, Artur Szostaczko, and podcaster Lechem Sidorem called Abramowicz the “eminence grise” of her team. They revealed some personal facts about their relationship and spoke about her heavy influence behind the scenes.
“I don’t know of any other case where a player spends day and night with a psychologist. And on vacations together, there are trips and matches, so you know… but I always say if it suits Iga, I won’t discourage her. That’s why people have to understand. I can share my opinion, or be a little surprised. But if a player who was second in the world, and previously number one, has won six Grand Slams… what can we offer her or advise her,” Artur Szostaczko said during a conversation on the Trzeci Serwis podcast
A few days later, Swiatek’s father noticed this discussion and lashed out at the duo for questioning her daughter’s team dynamics.
“What have you both achieved? Almost nothing. Mind your own business. You’re both sleeping with each other, you know,” he wrote angrily
Iga Swiatek recently participated in the Qatar Open, where she reached the third round. Despite a spirited performance against Maria Sakkari, the Greek defeated her in three sets.
Abramowicz works closely with Swiatek on mental preparation and emotional control. They hold structured sessions focusing on performance under stress.
Under her guidance, Swiatek reached the top of the WTA Rankings in 2022. She also registered a 37-match win streak that year, the most by any player in the 20th century.
“It wasn’t clear that Daria Abramowicz was helping Iga Swiatek in any way” – Lechem Sidorem on the physcholigists role in the team

Iga Switak has made a slow start to the new calendar year. After a runner-up finish in the United Cup, she reached the quartefinals in Melbourne and Doha.
Swiatek’s former first team coach sat down to discuss what may be wrong with her team. They singled out her relationship with psychologist Daria Abramowicz and felt the latter didn’t help the Pole during tough situations on the court.
“ At the Australian Open and in Doha, it wasn’t clear that Daria Abramowicz was helping in any way. Iga is a bundle of nerves; she doesn’t have any mechanisms she could put into practice, such as sign language. The world is starting to look at this arrangement differently, with different eyes.” Lechem Sidorem said on the Trzeci Serwis podcast
Iga Swiatek withdrew from the Dubai Open despite being among the players in the entry list. She has yet to announce her next appearance on the main tour.
The 24-year-old is still among the top three players in the world. She is near 3000 points behind Aryna Sabalenka in second place in the WTA Rankings.
